lol Texas gets first run at blue chip players from the state yet still can't win. Roll Tide es.
There is no need for this nonsense up in this thread. Bear Bryant just rolled over and showed you his Tide.....

BTW, you probably just became a Bama fan after either this year or when they beat Texas 2 years ago. Last year, you were probably rooting for LSU.

Quotes from ATH Daje Johnson after Mack's visit yesterday. Looking good.

“It was real smooth, very smooth,” Johnson said. “Basically my dad had questions for them (UT coaches) and he asked them and they answered them. It was good.”

“I’m pretty sure it (a UT offer) will come this weekend. They wouldn’t come to my house and do all this stuff and not offer,” he said. “They told me it was coming.”

“They told me that today actually because coach (Duane) Akina just approved me. Saying he would take me at DB,” Johnson said.

“They (TCU) came right before Texas,” Johnson said. “There was a little bit of tension in the room, but they came for about 10 or 15 minutes. Coach (Patterson) had to catch a flight. They weren’t here that long. Basically coach P and my dad were talking the whole time and me and coach Haverty were just listening.”

Per Orangebloods, Cottrell will make an official visit to Texas this weekend. It's on. Big weekend, Santos, Daje and Cottrell.
Sounding like UT will get a clean sweep this weekend and then wait for DGB's answer on Wednesday. Things seem to be extremely positive after the visit to Springfield yesterday.

I wonder if Oregon effectively pulls Cottrell's offer when he shows up in Austin this evening? That would jive with their hard sell tactics.

If the clean sweep goes down as planned, Texas will meet many of their needs. As talented as this class is, getting impact players at need positions is just as important. Extremely well done. After Sunday, we wait on the gravy.

Hook 'Em 24/7 reporting that ATH Daje Johnson will be on campus around 4:30 this afternoon. His host for the weekend was supposed to be DB Quandre Diggs, but Diggs has a family obligation so it will now be DB Carrington Byndom. LB Dalton Santos is expected to leave Van with his family about 1:00 or so.

Also from Hook 'Em 24/7, Chambers was in Whitewright earlier this week to watch 2013 QB Tyrone Swoopes play basketball and then he picked up his transcripts. The first Junior Day is only two weeks away.

Good article on UT recruiting and the negatives of Twitter, Facebook, etc. Texas has made a very smart move; see this snippet from the article.

"Texas' football program has partnered with UDiligence, a company whose software provides automated monitoring of the social networking of student-athletes. Every time a football player drops a curse word or refers to drugs, alcohol, race, sex or violence, Texas' athletic department receives a notification."

    DGB update from JS
    ------

Some prefer Wheaties but for my money a Breakfast of Champions consists of a Big Cigar talking to someone close to the Staff about perhaps the best player in a America, DGB, over some sunny-side ups and a side of bacon.

Jesus Shuttlesworth: So what’s the story?

Big Cigar: Eggs were a little runny.

Jesus Shuttlesworth: How was the DGB visit?

Big Cigar: Oh that. The visit couldn’t have gone better but that doesn’t mean it’s a sure thing for the good guys. We’ll still have to sweat this one out.

Jesus Shuttlesworth: I figured that, but what were the takeaways from the visit according to your friend?

Big Cigar: First, we think we’re out in front but this is where it gets tricky. We discussed how the parents trust Mack and the Texas staff more than the other schools. We discussed how Sally Brown has endeared herself to Mrs. Beckham so we lead there. So in terms of the parents, we are the preferred school. The problem is you have a young man in high school with a girlfriend and tons of friends in the area so he’s having second thoughts about going so far from home. We think he’ll have the best chance for success at our school and the parents agree, but right now the young man is torn.

Jesus Shuttlesworth: So are you saying Dorial isn’t feeling Texas?

Big Cigar: No, not at all. He loves the school, the program, the city, you name it. He hit it off with our recruits especially Johnathan Gray and he knows the talent in the pipeline will allow him to do special things as a football player. This might be a rehash but Harsin and Applewhite have done a good job of showing him plays over the course of last season that were near misses that would have been successful had we had his talent on the offensive side of the ball. So the only real concern right now is distance.

Jesus Shuttlesworth: That makes sense. Can you touch on why Mack visited the school instead of doing the true in-home?

Big Cigar: Mack knows the parents are in Texas’ corner, so this was a good opportunity to visit with Dorial in a public environment. The one obstacle facing the Horns is DGB going away from home and leaving friends so this was the best way to address that issue. I can’t say more than that in terms of visit specifics.

Jesus Shuttlesworth: Fair enough. Can you handicap how this thing finishes? I’m not going to ask for percentages because I know you don’t do those.

Big Cigar: I think Texas left Springfield under the impression that they lead for DGB. The parents aren’t particularly fond of Arkansas and OU is out of it. That leaves Missouri who’s been running second or third for a while now. If Missouri blows him away on the visit this weekend they’ll probably become the compromise choice for DGB. If not, I think he ends up in burnt orange. I have an idea on how Missouri should play the official visit based on some things my friend told me, but I’m not going to say anything that helps them out. Let’s just say all the pressure is on that program to put their best foot forward and hope it’s in the same ballpark as Texas. If they do, they’ll probably get this once in a decade prospect. If not, he’s going to Texas.

Where did you find this? I don't see any official schedules anywhere, and WV isn't even confirmed to be in next year. I'll do my predictions anyways.

    Wyoming W
    New Mexico W
    at Mississippi W
    Iowa State W
at Oklahoma (at The Cotton Bowl) L
    at Oklahoma State W
    Baylor W
    at Kansas W
    at Texas Tech W
    West Virginia W
    at Kansas State L
    TCU W

I have no clue how good Tech, Okie State, and Baylor will be next year, but the last two shouldn't be as good as the prior year. As good as WV looked against Clemson, our D should take care of them. If Ash becomes a decent QB that at least doesn't turn the ball away, I think we have a shot against OU and even K State.

Its got to be weird for him if hes still on his official visit, wining and dining with Mack if he already knows where he is going.

Mizzou fans went ape- when DGB arrived, at least 100 fans with crazy home made signs to greet him. Pressure to stay in state doesn't worry me a fraction as much as the girlfriend. He constantly twitter messages his g-friend back and forth about how perfect they are for each other. I just don't see him moving that far away in the end. Well, we will see.
