When do they announce the reserves?
7 PM ET on TNT.
+1
Parker getting snubbed would be the best thing to happen for the spurs tbh.
Prediction time:
West:
G- Westbrook
G- Parker
F- Kevin Love
F- LaMarcus Aldridge
C- Marc Gasol
Wild- Kyle Lowry
Wild- Ty Lawson
East:
G- Joe Johnson
G- Rajon Rondo
F- Chris Bosh
F- Danny Granger
C- Roy Hibbert
Wild- Andre Iguodala
Wild- Paul Pierce
I think you are pretty much spot on for East (Maybe instead of Rajon we will see Deron Williams, not sure)...but Steve Nash or even Ricky Rubio might make an appearance on the West
hmmmm, interesting take CBF. Personally I want Tony to make it because (a) he deserves it and (b) of all the guys in the league you can tell Tony would really appreciate and enjoy another All Star selection. Emphasis on "enjoy." That said though, CBF adds an interesting element to consider...
Since coaches pick the reserves, I think he has a good shot...
exactly
good find timaios

Really? I heard him say he doesn't really care or concern himself with it. Also, like when he was in the skills challenge, he maybe went 40% intensity. Maybe he does take it serious but it's not obvious.
He said in one of the postgame interviews this year that he really wanted to be in it last year since most of the Spurs went there. I believe he mentioned it a few times last year too that he thought he should have gone to the ASG.
If selected, I wonder if he's going to try and score on Westbrook, even though they are on the same team![]()
Kyle Lowry?
If the whole infidelity scandal is true, Brent probably wouldn't pick Tony to mow his lawn.
I wouldn't laugh at the Lowry selection. He has played extremely well
Yeah, I actually just looked up his stats, and I guess it wouldn't be too outrageous. I just figured he was only going bananas against us, but he's having a very solid season.
Still, Tony has arguably had to carry just as much of a load as Lowry does in Houston, and he has put up better stats and led the team to a better record. Lowry may deserve it, but Tony deserves it more.
Yeah the Lowry selection makes sense and I know they need a Center for the West, but Marc Gasol? Really?
Maybe I'm not paying enough attention to the Grizzlies.
Gasol started off gang busters but has faltered some lately. He still deserves it though IMO.
If Lowry gets in ahead of Parker it would be a travesty.
Although Nash will most likely get in for his stats.
Lowry is a laughable selection. He was hot early but has sucked as of late. In his last ten games he's shooting 37% and averaging 12 points per game. He had a fluky start but he isn't close to all-star caliber right now.
Parker vs. Lowry is no contest. For starters, Parker handily outplayed him in three of their four matchups. Comparing their season stats, Parker scores 32.5% more, assists 16.8% more, turns the ball over 40.5% less and gets to the line 29.3% more. Lowry is a much better three-point shooter and rebounder but that's about it.
Chris Paul is better than Parker. Westbrook's stats and the Thunder's record will get him on the team. The only other point guard in the West that has an argument against Parker is Nash. Nash's number are pretty damn good this season.
But you can make a case that Parker is more deserving than Nash. First of all, Parker has played 200 more minutes so far. Plus, the Spurs are 18-9 without Ginobili, with an old TD and having played the most difficult schedule in the NBA. The Suns, on the other hand, are 11-14 even though they've played the easiest schedule of any Western Conference team.
So if you just want to go with per-minute numbers and subtract winning from the equation, Nash should make it over Parker. Otherwise the point guards who deserve All-Star recognition in the West should go CP3 ----> Westbrook ----> Parker
I think Nash will get on the team regardless, more of a "lifetime achievement" position on the team. Kind of like Duncan last year.
Parker likes the recognition of being named an all-star ... just like most people enjoy a "job well done" vote of confidence.
But Parker doesn't care about the actual all-star game itself.
With Duncan playing as of recent, and how all the coaches love him and what he brings to the team despite stats - do you think he might overtake that center spot (even though he's not a center) ?
...and Nash leads the league in assists !
FG% = 55.9
3P% = 45.5
APG = 10
PPG = 15.1
At 38, it's a very impressive season for Nash !
For a guy his age to be putting up stats like that is amazing, no way they leave him off the squad.
