lol... whatever. I watched him play in college. He kicked UT's ass in the Big 12 tournament when he was a freshman, and looked like he was going to be something special. So, yeah, I kept an eye on him. Obviously you didn't., wow you must really like this guy to dig up all this info on him. You are now officially the Julian Wright expert on ST, good job..Now tell me again, how tall is he with crocs on?

You can laugh about wearing crocs, or whatever, but you just make it more obvious that you don't know about the game.
More like: If Julian Wright could play like RJ did, four years out of college, he wouldn't be in the ing D-League.
When RJ came out of college, he wasn't a particularly good shooter. But he was a very effective slasher. Wright isn't a very good shooter, and he wasn't an effective slasher at the NBA level - even though he tried. But, hey, Yavozerb likes to talk about he knows nothing about. Why shouldn't you?

Ya, I feel pretty dumb I didn't keep an eye on a player who took only 4-5 yrs to play himself out of the NBA..Dude, sorry to dissapoint but I think everyone here knows how measurements are taken during the pre-draft workouts, but if it makes you feel better then keep telling yourself you have the inside knowledge on barefoot measurements..Here's to you J. Wright expert in keeping ST informed on the coming and probably goings of Julian Wright,

Julian Wright never seems to have understood that the problems he’s faced in his NBA career are not the work of the bogeyman. He’s not the victim of a conspiracy to keep him off the floor. He struggles with basic flow on both sides of the ball and has never been able to apply his considerable athleticism in a meaningful way.
A fresh start in Toronto was supposed to mean that for him. It was a chance to get out of the doghouse in New Orleans and start over. But instead, he’s vanished from sight again. And on Friday, he wound up disappearing on purpose.
Wright was told by head coach Jay Triano to enter the game during a blowout to the Warriors Friday night, and Wright responded by staying on the bench, according to Triano.
Go ahead... make a snappy comeback about how great he was. Maybe on the Hornets being a gutless clumsy asshole is a good thing. I mean, you gotta love a guy who is trying to hang onto a spot in the league, but is too cowardly to take the floor when the coach gives him a chance.

The Hornets summer league roster was announced today and Julian Wright, for the first time since 2007, will not be joining the Hornets summer league team in Las Vegas. It shouldn't come as much of a surprise to some, as Wright mentioned on the Hornets official website at the end of the season that he was going to pass on participating in the Summer League because "summer league is so scoring-oriented. I'm going into my fourth year, and it's not all about me going out to get buckets. But that's kind of what summer league is about, being aggressive all the time and scoring."
Here's a guy who can't score for , holding onto a roster spot by his fingernails, and he refuses to play summer ball, supposedly "because it's too scoring-oriented". Brain-child.

Fans have wanted to see more of Wright almost from day one, wanted to see his athleticism and talent on display for more than a handful of minutes at a time. Undaunted by the reasoning that Wright wasn't playing more because he wasn't doing what was asked of him when he was on the floor, fans considered Wright a better alternative to what they were seeing.
Unfortunately, given the chance, Wright hasn't given them much to see this season.
Handed the starting job this year, perhaps as a way to shave Stojakovic's minutes and lessen the chances of his balky back acting out, Wright didn't mesh with the starters. He's still more "athlete" than "basketball player," and the Hornets need him to be the latter much more than they need him to be the former.

Always had potential, just has never lived up to that. Only 24 years old so has time to mature and maybe become a pretty good player.

Nope that was Julius Hodge from NC State (one of Wake Forest's Rivals). And if you read the story it sounds totally deserved.
Chris Paul was very close to his grandfather and was raised by him. While Paul was in HS his grandpa was mugged one day and died from the beating he received. Paul is famous for going out and scoring 61 points (61 being how hold is Grandpa had been when he died) the day after his funeral - even intentionally air-balling his last free throw so he didn't exceed his magic number of 61. He then collapsed on the bench and cried.
A year later he was at Wake Forest playing NC State, their rival. The NC State players, and a numer of fans, started chanting cruel things specifically targeting Paul's family and the loss of his Grandpa. After a while, Paul got pissed and punched him in the nuts.

I knew he'd struggled with adapting to the NBA as a tweener...but I didn't have nearly all the details that you've put forth in this thread. I was actually kind of excited when it was announced that he was on the Toros. Hes definitely got much better physical attributes than most D-Leaguers. But it sounds like theres a good reason why hes in Austin.
Still, I'm hopeful. But hes probably more Da'Sean Butler than Danny Green at this point.
We are going to have to replace both RJ and Anderson next year, and we do have the world's greatest shooting coach.
If he can defend and be taught a jumper, he could contribute on this roster. Sometimes being set adrift and out of the NBA is the dash of cold water that these kids need to get their head on straight. To really set himself up in the music business, he'll need cash, which he doesn't have coming in now, and he'll need it in quan y and over a period of years. There's only one place he can get that.
This season the Spurs have 6 wings under contract, but in reality, a solid 5 man rotation is all that is really necessary. Especially if Parker and TJ Ford continue to play together some when he returns. That being said, the Spurs should have these five under contract next year (assuming RJ is amnestied and Anderson walks):
Ginobili
Leonard
Green (must be resigned)
Neal
They will therefore need to opt to sign at least one more player. Nando DeColo is the name on everyone's lips and is probably a good target. If he doesn't work out then I'd strongly consider someone with a bit more size that can help Leonard cover the taller SF's.

He's lucky the Toros would have him.

I watched every game he played. He could play defense, but he was a disaster offensively. His shooting got worse every season and was a poor decision maker. His shot and confidence disappeared. They basically gave him the starting job in his 3rd season and he was a disaster which forced the team to go back to Peja. The guy had potential, worked hard his rookie season, sulked in his second season and regressed. I always liked and rooted for him, but he didn't get it done was a bust as a lottery pick.
Hornets78'sscouting report is bang on. He's like a poor man's James Johnson, who incidentally essentially took his job with the Raptors.
It's probably unlikely, but he might be signed later in the season. They may see him as a potential fifth wing for next season, when Jefferson and Anderson will inevitably be gone. Specifically, they could use a depth small forward to replace those two. I'd like Wright's chances better if he were at least a decent shooter. But then, if he were a decent shooter, he'd probably still be in the league.
Yup to what people have written above. He had potential, has never realised any of it. Much like Anthony Randolph really.
