Joe Dumars has also 4 all defensive 1st team and 1 2nd team
And one of his all nba selection was 2nd team. It will be really hard to be 2nd team for Parker with Rose, Wade, Bryant, Westbrook, Paul etc...

Joe Dumars resumé would still be better IMO but not by far
Can't argue that too much but I think Dumars' defense was offset a bit by his offense. According to PER, Dumars was basically an average offensive players (15.3 PER in the regular season, 14.4 PER in the playoffs). Parker's PERs are much better and are still on the way up it seems.

An All-NBA team and a top ten finish in MVP voting would clinch Parker's Hall of Fame bid, IMO.
I don't know if finishing top ten in MVP voting will have an impact for the HOF but it clearly shouldn't.

Just look at the MVP voting results:
    http://www.nba.com/news/nash_mvp_05-06.html
    http://www.nba.com/2009/news/05/04/m...504/index.html

5 of 125 journalists and then 7 of 121 journalists have voted for Parker. I don't think you can give some kind of relevance of a top10 MVP results when it's because of about 5% of the journalist panel.

All-NBA teams should weight way more for making the HOF.

Eh, I don't know. While I agree the order in importance should probably go All-NBA team --> All-Star team --> top ten in MVP voting ... I think top ten in MVP voting has some value. AFIAK, the same people who vote on on the All-NBA team vote on the MVP. And if you are in the top ten in MVP voting, that probably means you are at least a top 15-20 player in the NBA even after adjusting for sample size.

Top ten MVP voting is also useful for situations in which the league may be unevenly stacked at one position and thus it may be impossible for a player to make an All-NBA team even though they are a top ten player in the NBA. For example, this year's All-NBA third team center is going to end up being a worse player than Parker due to that very cir stance.

Honestly, in the end who really gives a about the HOF? It's all about now, winning now, winning rings.
    Wow.

I think everyone on both sides of the court cares about the HOF. Getting there means you did some pretty cool .

You really don't think he's a candidate? He won't win over Lebron/Durant, but he's a top 5 candidate at this point IMO.

    I agree.

Nevertheless Lebron and Durant who are playing great basketball are the clear candidates but after these two he is right there with some few others. I'd say he is a solid top 5

This is what I meant he has no room to be in the conversation with Lebron and Durant but he is clear top 5

er.. they are for Parker.. From ESPN site..

    http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=320314024

Magic, declaring before a 122-111 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night that he won't surrender his right to become a free agent this summer.

Howard had 22 points and 12 rebounds on the eve of the NBA trade deadline, and his refusal to give the Magic the ultimate assurance he'll be back may weaken Orlando's hesitation to trade their superstar.

The trade deadline is 3 p.m. Thursday.

Tony Parker had 31 points and 12 assists, and Tim Duncan had 21 points and 13 rebounds as the Spurs closed a seven-game homestand by hosting the NBA's biggest drama.

Parker, averaging 29.8 points in his last four games, was serenaded by chants of "M-V-P! M-V-P!" in the closing minutes.
