Keep in mind Hickson was with Golden State before being re-routed to big man .
I believe Bruno said he clears waivers at 5 p.m. CST
Keep in mind Hickson was with Golden State before being re-routed to big man .
On Wednesday, J.J. Hickson was at New Orleans Arena before the Golden State Warriors played the Hornets.
He had been waived Monday by the Sacramento Kings, and with the 48-hour waiver period about to end, he was prepared to accept the Warriors' offer to join them for the rest of the season. With about five minutes left until the deadline passed, he made his way out to the court, wearing Warriors gear.
“I was walking out to go shoot, get some shots up before the game, and they (previously) said I couldn’t go on the court until the deadline,” Hickson. “So I was going out to go out and get some shots and they told me I couldn’t go on the court because I didn’t clear waivers.”

That's in 7 hours if my math is right.
What sucks is that you have to wait till 5 p.m. no matter what, should be 2 days to the hour that said player was placed on waivers. For example, say Diaw was put on waivers around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, he should clear waivers at 8 a.m. on Friday.
So guys, assuming Diaw joins our Spurs. What is the probability he works his ass of for the next month and drops 10-15 lbs?
Diaw is probably too lazy to even make a decision to play under pop
Good signing for the Mavericks, I have always liked Azubuike. Will be interesting to see how much court time he gets this year, though.
Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine
Azubuike will start in D-League this weekend immediately after signing w/Mavs after missing most of last two seasons because of knee injury
Azubuke, Pietrus, Derozan I wanted those guys in the spurs for years
of course that was before Green and Kawhi
That sucks..![]()
Yep but I'm not 100% sure about that. It could be 2 pm ET too.
Sheridan has a piece on the waivers timing:
http://www.sheridanhoops.com/2012/02...ld-be-altered/
I don't know if the waiver rule has still been changed. My guess would be no. In that case, it's possible that Diaw clear waivers today at 2 pm ET. Diaw waived was official on bobcats website around 1pm ET Wednesday.Currently, the league sends out a memo to all 30 teams at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday announcing whether anyone has been waived, and teams then have 48 business hours — which excludes Saturdays and Sundays — to put in a claim. Thus, a player waived at 6 p.m. Friday under the current system cannot clear waivers until 6 p.m. the following Tuesday.
Under the proposed new system, there would be one waiver wire each day at 5 p.m. Eastern time, and the 48-hour clock would immediately begin ticking.
“The rule as it was crafted before has a long history. Back in the day there was different technology, stuff like Telexes, and now today in the digital age there’s not a whole lot of reason why we shouldn’t do it,” Jackson said.

Dallas adding a perimeter player was a logical move. They had so much dpeth inside even with Williams waived.
Bruno, I read it differently than you, especially the "Under the proposed new system, there would be one waiver wire each day at 5 p.m. Eastern time, and the 48-hour clock would immediately begin ticking." line.
As I understand it, there's only one waiver deadline per day at 5pm ET, which means Biaw should clear waivers at that time today.
I had an even more restrictive reading of the "and the 48-hour clock would immediately begin ticking." meaning the clock for Diaw would have started ticking as soon as he was waived, meaning Diaw would have passed waivers around noun today... in about 15 minutes![]()
If the Spurs hypothetically sign Diaw, will they rush to get him in uniform tonight? In a normal situation, they would take their time but considering that Pop is probably going to rest a lot of players against the Hornets tomorrow night, he might want to allow Diaw to at least be part the team one game before he gets thrown to the fire.
Now we really need Diaw tonight:

Tony Parker (hamstring) and Tiago Splitter (back spasms) will not play tonight vs. Mavs. Matt Bonner (back) listed as probable.
I was just about to ask. Realistically, if he were signed today at 6 or 5 or whenever. Would he be able to play tonight? Especially now that Tiago and Bonner are out. If not, I wonder if Dawson will get a lot of run tonight.
Heh... they'll be completing his physical on the plane if they do. It would be nice to get him in a uniform, for the reason you suggest, but that's awfully quick, isn't it? I guess it depends on whether the waiver period expires at 1:00 or 5:00.
are you kidding me![]()
Matt Bonner even finds a way to "spread the injuries" (back) to other players...
Wow, another loss to Dallas. I hope Tiago's injury is BS, and an excuse for Pop to rest him.
Rest him? I don't see why he would need rest.
Lol at these injuries coming after the Spurs had a bunch of days off.
Does interesting mean "already in SA" or "already with Blair at Whataburger?"
I'll be happy when this wait is over with.
I don't see why he should sit tonight if he's signed in time. Might as well throw him into the fire and get him going. Not going to hurt to play him 10-15 minutes at least. Especially with Splitter out.
