Have been twitter discussing with Eddy Rivera about the MVP consideration.

All I argued was it was not "laughable" that he's in the talk. Not that he IS the MVP, cause ImO has not.

He also feels Parker is getting way too much credit for the Spurs success.

    Agreed?

It depends on what you consider MVP. There has never really been an adequate definition, as far as I'm concerned.

Is it the player with the most talent/skill? Or the player that the team relies on the most?

I always consider MVP to be a player that helps his team win many games, but without him there, they would just be a scrub team winning nothing. He's the most valuable member of the team.

I think the Spurs would still be in the playoffs without Tony Parker. But, I definitely think he's a top 3 point guard, and lately, the best.

He believes, That he plays in the deepest team in the league with the best coach in the league. Therefore shouldn't be in the discussion.

I'm most likely a giant blind ball and silver homer for disagreeing but, wanted to run it by the sound board first.

He has been the best player on the best team in the West. Seems worthy of being mentioned in the conversation.

Wish I could figure out what the EXACT criteria for MVP are, then maybe... just maybe... I could come up with something better than, "He deserves it, blah, blah, blah." GGGrrrrr...

The team is now mostly offense that relies on pick and roll
put neal/patty in his place and see how we do
Parker is the best player on a team that is now #1 in the west and possibly in the entire nba
this is after the nba world that we would finally die after last years playoffs and 1/3 of the season through we were the 9th seed when our #1 player went down for half the season
yes ginobili was the #1 player last year and this year pre injury

I dont really mind if parker doesnt win because we all know its impossible but some votes would be nice
itll be even better when lebron wins his 3rd and becomes the biggest joke in the nba
only player with 3 mvps to never win a ring
would be even better if parker spanked durant in the WCF and lebron in the finals on route to his second FINALS mvp
have the last laugh while hes texting lebrons mom

you could also tell that guy to watch parker in game 1 vs LA and game 2 and see the difference he makes on this team

Sounds like what detractors say about reigning MVP Rose.

But I definitely agree Parker deserves consideration. He's proven to even haters like myself that he's the best player on the Spurs, and the best player on the best team in the West deserves MVP consideration.

Best player on the Best Team in the West, but the Spurs in general aren't winning because of top heavy play, but lots of positive contributions from lots of players. I'd say LeBron should win(He may not bacause of LeBron hate), with Durant and Paul next in line, Parker being ~4th. He should make at least 2nd team All-NBA, which is good recognition of an excellent season.

Looking at from January 15th on(Basically, the point Parker went from What's wrong with Tony Parker to Holy , Tony Parker) He's probably closer, but the first few weeks of the season count as well.

Parker isnt good enough for the 'best player on the best team' argument. Hes an all-star and all-nba but MVP is the top echelon and Parker isnt up there. Rose and Paul are really the only two PGs that are in that superstar group. Not to mention the point the guy brought up about the Spurs depth. Parker should get a couple of votes but realistically shouldnt be in serious contention for it.

The Spurs without Parker probably would have made it to the Playoffs, so what? Would the Heat without LBJ, but with Wade and Bosh miss them?

I don't think TP's good enough to be the real MVP but yeah, he's been a beast for us most of the season and is definitely a big part of our success right now (along with relative health, role players stepping up and Pop being the beast coach in the NBA).

It's a team sport, nobody is going anywhere without their team.

As Spurs fans, you should realize how important defense is by now. Parker plays none of it; meanwhile Duncan is still great on defense.

Oh, by the way, this is 2012. Obama is the President of the US of A. And Tony and Eva have divorced. Just thought you'd like being brought up to speed on "recent" events.

Parker deserves MVP consideration. Parker, LeBron, Durant. Best players from top teams.

    1. LeBron
    2. Durant
    3. Parker

Not Kobe, not Rose , not Nash, not Paul.

I don't think it's laughable to include him in the discussion. Yes, they've had balanced contributions from the rest of the team but I think that this year most especially, Parker has really set the tone for the team and without him (in that long stretch without Manu), we probably make the playoffs but barely.

Stop being homers. This isnt about media bias against the Spurs. Parker has been very very good but not good enough to where the best player on best team argument can apply. You have to be widely considered atleast a Top 3-5 player in the league on top of being on the best team for that argument to apply. Noone in their right mind (other than maybe will_spurs) considers Parker a Top 5 player.

Remember how slowly Tony started the season? We were all afraid, that he is done. Than after the Manu injury, he came into live and lead to this team, to unexpected success.
He should be in the MVP conversation.

This team is made for Parker and his style of play. Just like the Spurs did for Duncan they have built the team around Parker while keeping their big three together. If Parker doesn't get serious recognition then at least Pop and Buford should for COY and exec of year for ushering this change while Tim Duncan is still playing some great basketball. Their work has a lot to do with this consistency.

He should definitely be in the conversation due to the fact that he totally runs the offense on the team that is best in the west and that after tonight (probably) will equal the best team in the league.

We have all seen what happens when Tony is not on the court. Our offense stalls and confusions reigns. We have still won some games, but remember that our worst loss was when Tony wasn't on the floor (along with Tom and Manu). But we have won games without Manu. We have won games without Tim. We have only won one game without Tony.

Parker had the team on his back all through the period when Manu was out. He carried them until Manu came back and Tim got into the shape he has been in for the last three weeks.

He is the leading scorer on the leading team. He definitely deserves to be in the conversation.

He won't win because his stats are never going to be as gaudy as LBJ's. He plays fewer minutes than other top stars because his coach makes that decision, keeping his per game points and assists lower than some.

No one on a Spurs team is going to get MVP while Tim Duncan is still on the team.

But Tony deserves to be in the conversations.

    Yes.

Honestly, if a sane and logical person is going to tell you Tony Parker doesn't deserve some MVP consideration because he plays on a deep team with a solid coach, then that same person should be fair enough to tell you that Lebron James doesn't deserve it because he plays with two other superstars.

It's pointless debating with a guy who can't admit as much.

Either way, I'm not sure what that says about your league if you're unwilling to toss the best player on the winningest team in the west some MVP consideration. San An is one game away from clinching the top seed, it takes an absolute turd to say they'd be in the same position without Parker.

If I didn't know better, I'd say this twitter guys wife slept around on him with a frenchmen and he's now harboring resentment towards all that is Vive-La-France.

I say "Vive le pe Frenchman".

(ps. I rather see Parker obtain his second Finals MVP, There's no denying him love/respect if he's playing at this same level in June and the S&B come out on top).
