exactly... that's why Metacritic is the go to site for evaluating games... you can compare mag reviews with actual user scores... when they're both high, it's a good game... when reviews are high but user is lackluster, you know it's hype.
lol paid reviews
lol actual users don't agree
lol it's great "because it is"![]()

When 2 out of 10 people are against something, who do you think things will go in favor for?
Also I'm curious to know who paid the 40+ professional critics to say all these nice things about a game that's clearly badly constructed.![]()
1 out of 10 people > 2 out of 10 people...
lol martketing doesn't matter... is that the angle you're going with now?![]()
Shadowflames do you like Backstreet Boys? They've sold over 130 millions records..130 million people can't be wrong.
And GTA4 wasn't ty, but it was far from the huge scores that people gave it.
Driving was awful
Cover system was ty
A lot of the missions were ty, felt like playing WoW at times.
Having your fat ing cousin ring you every 5 minutes was annoying as
Also, Nono I took a look at that site MetaCritic...
And found that it has favorable reviews from both pros and users.
http://www.metacritic.com/game/plays...-theft-auto-iv
948 positive reviews to 226 negative.
The positive user reviews vastly outweights the bad convincingly.
Also took a peak at the user reviews of Max Payne 3..
http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/max-payne-3
117 positive reviews to 28 bad ones.
GTA4 has more favorable user review then Max Payne 3 by a margin of about 800 or so up until now.

Personally, I didn't think GTA4 was horrible, but it wasn't amazing either. Lackluster story, no real innovation in gameplay except next-gen graphics, the even removed features (flying planes, no tank???)
And the problems with the video game 'review' industry are well do ented. Most major review sites get their advertising revenue from the games they are reviewing. The Jeff Gertsmann controversy at Gamespot.com regarding Kane and Lynch 2 is infamous now. Video game reviewers also can't play games in depth as consumers would as they're more interested in releasing 0-day reviews.
Hundred of thousands of people have come out about Mass Effect 3 and the terrible ending, to the point that BioWare is actually releasing free DLC to try to correct this. Why then did all the video game sites say the ending was fantastic?![]()
Saints Row 2 was much better than GTA 4 tbh.
The ending or the story line its just one aspect of the game though.
I'm talking overall here.
I'm not even saying GTA4 is the bestest game ever. I'm just saying its not " ty", "garbage" or "horrible." To say that its dumb.
You can obviously say you didn't like the game but to generally say its bad? C'mon........
I was talking overall too. The biggest jump in the game for GTA4 was being the first GTA on a next-gen cosnsole. There was nothing really new.
And according to Professional Reviewers, the game is 98/100, which basically IS saying it's the best game ever. The majority of user reviews you pointed to ARE positive, but the general consensus is NOWHERE near 98/100. Saying it's a terrible game can't be any different from giving the game the highest score in history...
Oh and I just realized that Max Payne has a better user review on the 360.
I based that user ratings above via the PS3.
Turns out the 360 version has alot more better user reviews and about the same negative reviews oon both systems.
Well, obviously, MP3 just came out... it will take a while to get reviews...
Now compare that GTA IV user score with:
San Andreas:
http://www.metacritic.com/game/plays...to-san-andreas
Vice City:
http://www.metacritic.com/game/plays...auto-vice-city
GTA III:
http://www.metacritic.com/game/plays...theft-auto-iii
GTA II:
http://www.metacritic.com/game/plays...d-theft-auto-2
tbh, as I said, they really raised the bar with the previous games, which is the reason GTA IV sold so well...
Actually, by the time it came out, GTA IV had fairly ty graphics, (at least the console version)... And obviously looking at Red Dead, you know they could've done better...
tbh, I don't hate Rockstar or anything, I'm actually waiting for GTA V...
I dont see it as best game ever because honestly, its hard to determine that.
I see it as best game on the console up to that point and time. Honestly I think God of War 3 its the best game the PS3 has.
While the general consensus is nowhere near that high, it is also nowhere near the bottom either.
My gripe its not about game being the ultimate sexy beast, personally I'm arguing that this game is not bad. Can be neutral but when talking about it in general you cant deem this game ty or horrible or whatever you want to tag this game as.
Oh I only meant it was the first GTA to be for next-gen, not that the graphics were amazing for next-gen.
I already said GTA3 was the best imo. San Andreas was my second favorite.
Like I said, not arguing the fact GTA4 its a better game then its predecessors, just that the game its nowhere as bad as you are making it out to be.
It was pretty bad IMO... especially compared to it's predecessors... already pointed out here by other posters too... weak story, removed stuff from the older games, average graphics, etc...
lol 98/100
Cant admit this game its not really bad. Even when presented with load of evidence.
Next topic..
I still love ya though Nono. No hard feelings.
paid reviews = evidence
You need to take a hint from the rest of the posters here. As a matter of fact, you're pretty much all alone in that side of the coin, not sure if you noticed
It's all good, no hard feelings. Like I said, I don't think GTA IV deserves this much discussion, tbh
I'd still buy and play Max Payne 3.
Oh my my..
You bring up the metacritic user reviews and it has failed you at the end.
It clearly shows that the game has by far more favorable reviews than bad ones. They are also paid for their take?
And thinking a handful of members here saying this game sucks its an actual good sample size.
Can you find that thread about GTA4 where members here said this game was garbage btw? You keep talking about how members here thought the game was yet I see no links to that thread.
And even if that was the case, I just used your only measuring stick against you(metacritic) to show you that the game garnered more positive reviews then bad by actual gamers.
Cant used the paid review excuse.![]()
lol, how did it fail me? I pointed out GTA IV had the "higher" paid reviews, yet the lower "user" score of all the comparable games in the series, which was spot on...
We have a different reading... I compared to what those guys had to say about the other games in the series (which, BTW, didn't get anywhere near as good paid reviews as GTA IV) and they didn't think it was THAT good at all either... at least nowhere near as good as the other ones.
That would make sense if it would be just the members here...
I can find a thread where you're all alone defending GTA4's pride, where multiple posters come around telling you the game wasn't that good. You need a link?
Well, it wouldn't be 7.5 if it didn't have more positive reviews than negative. Otherwise it would've been rated < 5.0... That's simple math.
That said, 10% more people thought the previous iterations were better, that's why those hover on the 8.5 score... my point, exactly.
Did some digging of my own and found...
rofl, I honestly stopped reading all that because by page 5 it became very apparent members here didn't think the game sucked.
LOL even homeboy trainwreck agreed this game wasn't bad despite what he said on this very same thread.
Ah found the gem..
http://spurstalk.com/forums/showthre...ft+auto&page=4
The fest was too much to qoute one by one so just start reading from page 4.
I didn't see many members besides Iron Mexican, yourself and Baseline Bum dissing this game.
So that's that. End of thread.
