GTA IV was lazy as and uninspired. At best it was no better than a port onto the new generation of consoles with a ty main character.

GTA 4 was a freshly polished turd. The missions were terrible and the city was boring with the exception of the comedy club with Ricky Gervais. How do you go from Tommy Vercetti and Carl Johnson to got Niko also? Even Fido was a much better character. What the are you going to preach for in a game based on stealing cars, robbing mother ers, and shooting random people on the street?

GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas are still fun to play 7-12 years later, but even playing an hour of IV the first week after I bought the game was difficult. The gang wars in San Andreas are still some of the most fun ever put out in a game.

Looks awesome graphically, but then so did the last one. Since their track record in this series (not counting handhelds) is 3 incredible games vs 1 that completely sucked, maybe I have reason to hope this one will be a huge improvement.

4 was a complete abortion. The best part was ing around in free roam mode online.

Everyone was ing when it came out (me included). The game just didn't deliver.

It was fun most of the time, but allot of the missions feel the same as all other GTA games just in a new city and it got kind of tiring towards then end. I just wanted it to be over.

After a couple of weeks of playing this, I have to say I'm pretty disappointed. IGN is full of giving this a perfect score when lower rated games such as Bioshock and COD4 are far superior.

This game just doesn't have the great characters and voice acting that Vice City and San Andreas had. The soundtrack is far weaker than either of those, also. It gets repe ive way faster than Vice City or San Andreas did, and the city is nowhere near as interesting as Vice City or Los Santos/San Fierro/Las Venturas. This is the most overhyped game I have ever seen.

I couldn't agree more, that really sums it up for me...

All in all, if you've played GTA before, it doesn't feel as fresh as it once did.

GTA 3 was my fave, even though I never really played it. The soundtracks were the best part, especially including Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampires in nearly its entirety on K-Jah. Of course them finding out Scientist never received any benefit and Rockstar paying him out of pocket when they found out Greensleeves never paid him royalties made it even better.

I already pointed out the ones dissing the game, Iron Mexican, Baseline Bum you and a couple of others. Hardly the entire board.

And most of them were comparing 4 to the others in the series which its not what I'm doing at all.

Oh that's highly unlikely since that thread its two pages long and only a 15 different posters in.

1 (OP) its indifferent complaining about the difficulty of the game etc
9 posters that did not even brought up the game as being good or bad
3 posters who hated it
2 poster said it was good

1% of the people who posted on that thread whined about controls
2% of posters said it was a good game
3% hated it

Its about how GTA4 was recieved generally. I'll even discount the professional critics. You can use the user reviews and how they rated this game.

Also you're gonna need a bigger sample size than the obvious haters on here.

Yeah overall, it was a good game imo. And I thought the driving was fun as because it was realistic and when you pulle a drift, it felt rewarding. Sure I miss the cartoon driving of VC and SA but the driving in 4 was good as well, just in a different way.

They really need to add back planes/tanks/vortex/bicycle etc. hope 5 is like SA in terms of customization(tats, hair, clothes, car mods) and stupid fun.
