Perez-Verdia said his do ents were received and he won’t be removed.
He was one of six to respond with citizenship proof in Broward, she said, of the 259 letters that went out.
Only six responding out of 259 letters... in a county with a 2010 population of 1,748,066...

Maybe most of these are ineligible voters.

Maybe, maybe most are republicans. If you have the numbers, please post them. Your assumption doesn't count for much.

In addition to the six voters [out of 72 letters sent] who were able to prove to the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections office that the state’s database was incorrect, Craig Latimer says it’s possible other registered voters received the certified letter and threw it away.

One voter told him he’d done just that. When Latimer called him, the voter said that he was born in Canada and that when he was very young, his parents came to the United States and obtained citizenship. He became a citizen as well. “‘I served 12 years in the U.S. Navy,’ he told Latimer. ‘I threw your letter away.’”

Latimer said at that point he decided the SOE office would refrain from taking anyone else off the voting rolls.

I'm not assuming they are ineligible. The numbers suggest one thing, but I am not one who uses statistics as fact.

I think you guys are missing a valid concern over this. It's one think to require someone show citizenship, but the notice was delivered by first class mail. It should have been certified. There should also be more than the 90 days to show why the state names are wrong. Now... if this guy cannot show he's a citizen, then that's that.

Why should this particular man be required to show more proof than every other voter who isn't on that list in the first place?

These came from a database with search criteria. The number is really small that the programming kicked out. I wish I knew what criteria they used, but I doubt they will release it.

Your link says that county sent certified letters. The county in the OP didn't, they used first class. That is a concern. These guys aren't even on the same sheet of music.

    data and evidence makes statistics.

    Statistics don't make fact.

There is a clear difference. Didn't you know that?

No, the type of mail does matter. Even certifies isn't good enough because it only requires a signature from someone at the address. It doesn't insure the intended person received it.

Nope, the type of mail does nothing to explain why the man in the OP was on the list in the first place.

You have no authority over me.

The "you aren't the boss of me" defense.

Wow, I haven't seen that one used by anybody over the age of ten in a looooong while.

I can come up with plenty of "guesses." Guesses do not make fact.

Are you saying you can't think of any possible reasons why?

I'm not playing this silly game. That's all there is to it.
    It isn't a silly game.

It is a debate about a political party directly trying to disenfranchise people who don't belong to that party.

Moreover, it exposes the state to a rather hefty discrimination lawsuit, because hispanics, and those with spanish surnames and spanish-speaking national origins are directly protected classes.

You are right. Maybe I should have elaborated. Such actions need to have tracking ability. You can't do that with first class mail. I was actually pointing out a flaw in how they went about this.

    I see...

That's why they selected someone with an Italian surname?

Here, I fixed it. I can't stand the two-toned obviously edited background. At least make fun of me in style.
