You think the government controlling 1/6th to 1/8th of the economy is that out of control? That's probably nothing compared to Canada or Germany.
Any possibility of filing a lawsuit and requesting an immediate injunction?

I think the Ryan plan made it pretty clear that they only hate medicare for you, not them. But it's cool for you to be bound into paying for their's.
what does anyone, here, do day to day where the federal govt is "controlling" your life?
right-wingers and libertarians have NOTHING but liberty! freedom! GOVT IS THE PROBLEM. red herrings, all of them.
Well that's how baby boomers work....they claim that every other generation has a huge sense of en lement when they want young people to pay for their medicare and social security. They have by far the biggest sense of en lement out of every generation.
That's a pretty poor correlation, and incorrect.
Being a "baby boomer, and having paid into these systems for more almost 40 years, I simply want what I was told I would have. That said, I invest in my own retirement. there are so many times I could use that extra money, but I also know the SS system may fall apart by the time I retire, and may have to rely on myself exclusively.
There is no solution that will make everyone happy.
I think what makes me the most upset in such debates is that people thing they are en led to what they didn't earn or pay for. I plan my future on what I expect to get, not what I hope I can get. We treat the poor and handicapped so much better than decades past, and no matter how much more we socialize our system, there are more and more crybabies thinking they should have more.
that. There are less and less people pulling the cart and more and more people climbing into that cart. It will break down at some point. The trend needs to reverse.
You had to pay social security taxes regardless. It's not like they're optional and you chose to opt in based off some promises. If paying social security for 40 years with the risk of not getting it was such a huge concern for you, you should have left the country.
Well that was smart, you aren't one of the many re ed baby boomers who though social security is what serves as retirement savings.
True.
I don't think I'm en led to anything, but I sure as don't think baby boomers are en led to raise my taxes in the future just because they elected leaders who drained social security with tax cuts in other areas and unnecessary spending.
So why are old people en led to any more than the poor and handicapped? It's ridiculous how much money this country spends to keep 80 year olds alive. I'd much rather invest in the medical care of an under priviledged child who still has something to contribute to society.
rofl the baby boomers are main culprits for climbing into the cart these days. People my age are gonna be paying huge amounts of taxes in the next 10-20 years to shoulder the load of all the baby boomers expecting benefits, and we're never gonna see a penny of the huge taxes we'll pay.
LOL @ the baby boomers saying they deserve because they paid into the system. All the younger generations will be paying into the system to cover your bills and then don't get the benefit your old ass gets since Ryan wants to throw everyone but his aging base under the bus. If you guys really believe in ending medicare in place of a voucher system, why not pe ion Ryan to do it for you guys too?
I love how the Baby Boomers think it's automatically the younger generation's responsibility to pay for their medicare and social security because the elected tons of leaders who leveraged america and spent their soecial security.
This is a strawman... I never argued either way. The government is the biggest business of all but whether or not it overreaches is a stupid discussion that belies its much more specific nature. While many things need restructuring, few facets of our current government are far overreaching. We could definitely afford some drastic reductions to our various "war" budgets, for example, as well as stuff like the TSA and their Naziesque tactics. On the other hand, the EPA and other (arguably) important en ies should stay in tact and even continue to be expanded.
Canada, I would agree... Germany I'm honestly unaware. Like I said, I don't really have a horse in the race at this point. That's probably nothing compared to Canada or Germany.
I misunderstood your argument then cause I agree with everything here.
Sounds like a Ponzi scheme.
party politics=illusion of "free" elections......doesn't everyone know this by now.
WE ARE NOT FREE.
Who says that?
I think you will find the leading message among those of my age is that the government ed up. That there never was an actual fund holding the money. maybe the liberal/democrat baby boomers are different than the conservative/republican baby boomers in that regard.
Who is it that rails against spending. Who is it that wants the government to live within it's means. Who is it that wants to spend money we don't have?
We can go on, but in the end... It's the same old argument. The politicians by the people's vote with the people's money.
Yep, it is a Ponzi scheme. Just look at how much of the national debt is owed to SS and Medicare, and not in any kind of actual holding.
They spent it all, already!
So if you baby boomers are really about controlling spending, why don't you get on Ryan's ass to end Medicare for your generation too?
thinking that involuntarily paying taxes to the government is even remotely comparable to a "Ponzi Scheme"
It's liberals who don't care about spending.
I didn't know W was a liberal
And you and your generation.
He was a RINO. Not a conservative.
partisan hack talking about someone "drinking koolaid".
Shouldn't you be out hoarding lightbulbs dittohead?
I have always cared about spending, the deficit, and debt. If you have understood what you read of my words in past threads on the issues, you would know that.
What's a RINO?
So that means he wasn't a liberal?
If by "always cared" you mean "since 2009 when the Republican party started pretending to care" then sure.
