    The story

Five people were killed Thursday after a man tried to attack the Dutch royal family during a Queen's Day celebration by crashing his car near the royal family's bus, Dutch police said.

The man had a LEGAL license to drive.

    Ban cars.
    Cars basic use is transportation.

What good reason is there for the average citizen to be able to purchase an assault rifle?

The question is how much more unneeded death & violence needs to occur, before these idiots realize new ultra strict gun laws need to be put into place?
Thanks for chiming in. Strong, thought provoking stuff.

You take away the guns they go to knives, you take those away they go to home made bombs.

Crazy finds a way to be crazy. These utopian arguments of "if we ban em everything will be fine" have never held water and have always hurt more legal law abiders than the criminals.

Try killing 13 peeps with a knife and injuring 30 others.

Your argument loses credibility at "regardless of weapon type", B... we're talking about guns only....

Something called the 2nd Amendment stands there to protect the rest of us from knee jerk idiots like you.

Had everyone in the theater been armed, that guy wouldn't have attacked in the 1st place. They attack the weakest.

Your answer: take guns from the law abiding (the only people laws affect) so they cannot protect themselves from the criminals (those who don't care about the laws).

A person who wants to kill everyone including themselves isn't going to get a background check. They are going to find a way to get a gun or construct a bomb or poison the drinking system or burn a place to the ground. They aren't hindered by the laws. Laws only come into effect after the fact, just ask the families of the victims of any crime, how much the law protected them.

A gun is infinitely more lethal than a car.

Dude couldnt have killed 13 and wound 30 in the theater with his CAR, could he?

And a car has a practical purpose besides killing people.

    Try again.
Yeah you can try to argue your liberal pussy bull till you're blue in the face but that guy woulda got guns legally or otherwise seeing as how we share a border with some of the biggest drug/gun smugglers in the world.

Plus, second amendment. Not taking guns away. Pointless to even suggest.

So does a gun: self-defense... (also, hunting, depending on the type of gun...)
The practical purpose there being to fatally wound.

Unless you are cantthinkofanything that shoots the knee cap.

Untrue, in fact, I believe that he was prepared for someone to be armed due to the protective gear he was wearing. Also, he didn't kill himself

Debunked when gun carrying by-standers failed to shoot Jared Lee Lougher. This was well do ented.

He got tackled by someone without a gun while he was reloading.

    Try again.

One would have to have severe mental problems in the first place to enjoy killing people, tbh.....

    Um...when SHOULD we politicize it?

When is it okay to say "Guns are way too ing lethal to let the general public have and leads scores of innocent people getting murdered when theyre at the movie theater, supermarket or even school?"

Because youre certainly not allowed to say it immediately following the incidents themselves.

Why didnt he use a bomb if theyre the same thing?

If its just as easy to get, conceal, use etc, why do these punks keep sticking with guns?

Maybe cuz theyre afraid they'd blow themselves up in the process? Maybe because you cant walk into a walmart and buy a pre-assembled bomb?

Notice he didn't attack a police station.

You shouldn't own a gun. Just call the cops, you know, people with guns, to defend you. That worked great in the theater.

A lot of people that call for an outright ban in guns are not taking into account the number of guns already in circulation. It would be 60-70 years before guns would really start to be rare. And that's only with cooperation from gun manufacturers, and assuming guns aren't pouring in from Mexico. What was done with Class III firearms is not practical with semi-autos, shotguns, or handguns.
