That's the one. Z77-D3H... It's nice. PCI Express 3.0 and also supports Intel Smart Response... Although most Z77 mobos are fairly similar. This was an office build, so I didn't need CrossFire or anything.

Running a i5-3550 with stock cooler.
Yeah, the only differences seem to boil down to ports, graphics card support (like SLI etc), and overclocking support. That one didn't give as much support or supporting an overclock so I decided against it. I do want to eek out more out of the chip through an OC.

Is Smart Response worth using if you're just going to use an SSD as a system drive as it is? I figured that the SSD I'm getting would hold all my windows and applications and I'd just save my media on the mechnical drive.

Yep. Like I said, I'm not doing OC since it's an office build.

If you're using a full SSD as the main drive, then Smart Response doesn't matter. But it's nice to have if you have just a regular HD and want to add a cache SSD for cheap instead.

So I listed the NE links but I actually got everything on Amazon. Everything was the same price or cheaper and of course I get prime shipping with Amazon so that saves some money. I think I saved about 31 bucks not including shipping.

I should have everything on Friday and I'm super excited to put things together. Its been a long time since I built a computer.

    Dropped the USB 3.0 case?

I think I have that same cooler, don't freak out when you install it if it interferes with your RAM. You can slide the fan up on the fins a few mm to make room.

Picked up a new MOBO today and install is done! Windows is installing as I speak. Was happy to see everything power up on the initial try and so far everything has worked fine.

Oh yeah - install that socket 1155 CPU was ing nerve racking. I hate the design of the pins on the board and that sound it makes as you push the lever down. Having to put that much pressure on it scared the living out of me.
