I heard he's a big fan of Black Shabbas...
I can't really see him getting into jewish speed metal either.......
I heard he's a big fan of Black Shabbas...
But Toby Keith isn't even a Texan.
People may identify with the message, but they're not going to look for messages outside of their preferred genre. How many people who identify with RATM's message would have come across that message in the first place if it was set to country music?
What's hilarious to me is that they have big mouth geniuses like Ted Nugent and Hank Williams Jr out making asses of themselves for the GOP, but no one wants to use any of their ty songs![]()

Don't know enough about country to answer that, tbh
I think you're missing the point. If you like Rap Music, would you see the typical person enjoying Neo-Nazi/White Supremacist rap (assuming you don't identify with them)? How many individuals would say, "Well I don't listen to their lyrics, but the beat is hot!"
El Nono was being conservative - RATM's music has an extremely strong message which is diametrically opposed to everying Ryan is about.
I don't know how you can ignore a group basically saying " Republican White Men" just because you like the drum solos.
This was a joke, tbh, fwiw, imo![]()
ha!
But really, I lol'd
(pity)
If you like rap music, but not country, are you going to listen to a country artist because that country artist has a message you agree with? No. You're not even going to know that country artist has a message you agree with because you don't like country music and don't listen to it. That's the point I'm trying to make. Anyone's search for a lyrical message in music is going to be limited to the type of music they like to listen to.
btw..........I like RATM and don't give two s about their message.![]()
Present
the band's name is RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE. you dont have to listen to the lyrics to figure out what they stand for...
But this is a different argument altogether. We're talking about music that Ryan indeed listens to and is exposed to the message of the band.
But hey, anyone is free to listen to whatever they want, I agree. I just wouldn't be surprised knowing RATM's music and outspoken nature that they'd tell him to off.
I know full well what they stand for. I just don't care. I like how they sound, so I listen.
Paul Ryan thought they meant the "Congressional Discretionary Spending" machine, specifically.
well then, I wonder how many RATM cd's will be bought so that they can be destroyed as soon as republicans are told what their message is.
I mean the Dixie chicks didnt even have a message in their music and they suffered an enormous jump in sales in order to destroy their cd's right after they said something about the former president.
Okay, so he's exposed to the message. Now what?
I wouldn't be surprised either. Ryan himself probably isn't surprised. But hey, anyone is free to listen to whatever they want, I agree. I just wouldn't be surprised knowing RATM's music and outspoken nature that they'd tell him to off.
The "Machine" they rage against is the whole government... which includes democrats.
so they're tea partiers?
Has RATM ever penned a set of lyrics without telling somebody to off?![]()
Nobody is a big word.
I don't think even the greatest lyrics can get me to listen to music I don't like the sound of. But lyrics that are bad/uninteresting or that express a point of view with which I specifically disagree can certainly keep me from liking music I would otherwise enjoy.
That's pretty much the point I was trying to make, you've just done a better job at it than I was.

I thought Morello was a big Obama backer. I get that Morello and his Rage buddies are pissed but I don't really think Paul Ryan should give a about it to be honest. I've never understood why these bands and singers act like they are on their period when some evil neo-con plays one of their songs at one of their rallies. Don't these ungrateful uppity rich bags want free publicity and attention?
I don't think you have to focus all of your attention on the lyrics of Rage Against the Machine. When I hear Guerilla Radio, I don't think of Guerilla warfare and guerillas taking over the radio. I mainly think about Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. That was a great game, tbh.
They get more attention by saying that they dont want bag Paul Ryan to play their music. It's pretty obvious that they will get more free publicity by saying they oppose what dip Ryan represents.
