Storms like this where you have a warm core (hurricane) phasing with the jet stream only happen in late fall because that when the jet is far enough south. But this is basically a once in a lifetime storm. The "perfect" storm that the book and movie were based off of was FAR weaker than this.
And to think with the evidence we have today what water can do in just "one day" there are still Igmo's in this forum who think the Grand Canyon took "Millions" of years.

Well, it certainly deflects attention from Benghazi.
And remember, all those buildings have basements (which is where their boilers and mechanical rooms are) and all the cities infrastructure like gas lines, electrical lines, phone lines, etc, are all in underground tunnels that are now flooded with seawater. Those buildings are about to go into winter without heat.

CROFL same happened to me, lost power for about 1.5 hours, got pumped when the power came back on, and lasted for about 3 minutes
