Going from his recounting of the events, he seemed pretty clear-headed during the incident.
I'm going to say he was clear-headed the entire time.
His lawyer can try to convince a jury he was not. And after the incident doesn't really matter all that much aside from the clear fact he was hiding the fact he shot two people.

I never saw that anywhere. What link did I mess that from? I am only keeping the open mind that he may have rightfully shot intruders and then was a basketcase, and made bad choices. If you have evidence of foul play, then you need to be a witness.
i read it too in an article i found elsewhere online... "to end her suffering i shot her up under the chin", something like that. plus that he was pissed she laughed at him after the first initial shot so he finished her off.
crazy people out there indeed. i used to live across the street from a couple psychos only to find out a couple yrs back that the husband murdered his wife all crazy like, knife, hammer, and crowbar style as she laid in bed.
Yes, I did some more searches after responding. One article has the prosecution saying it looks like execution style, but didn't call it that. It also said he shot up at her as she was coming down the stairs. Sounds like a random under the chin into the head shot to me, rather than execution style. As for any article quoting his words... Hearsay...
yeah, i'm standing by my initial stance. regardless of how ruthless this old man was, those thieves should've went searching for a job instead of a house to rob. they got what they deserved in the end.
I agree. He simply made bad choices in murdering those people.
