Human kind is "kind" because they do things in a similar manner. They work with their hands, use tools, form societies, tribes and such (funny you haven't mentioned that they randomly formed a tribe as well) and they look for answers to questions like "why did the sea rise and take Umbabwe?" Someone must be angry to take Umbabwe, so the sea is angry. But the sea is water, how does water become angry. There must be a person out there who controls the sea and Umbabwe pissed him off. We should not piss off sea controlling person in the future, and to make up for Umbabwe's dumb ass, we will offer stuff to sea controlling person. But we have no idea what sea controlling person looks like, but it's likely he looks something like this log here if I carve out eyes and a nose. So we will give to sea controlling person aka log man and the sea will not only not take us like it did that rat Umbabwe, but it will give us more fish because sea controlling person will like us.
The real question is why civilized man still worships sea controlling person.
Every time you try to infer that reasoning is useless, you're proving yourself wrong. Billions of people have also died thinking that the planet they lived on was flat and was the center of the universe, both of which beliefs fueled by religion. We also have millions (hopefully not billions) of people who believe Earth is 5000 years old. Religion has made billions of people believe weird, illogical horse .

It's not a matter of knowing people who believe in god dumbass, it's a matter of history. Religious zealots were the ones who threatened to kill scientists for their radical unholy idea that Earth was round and rotates around the Sun. Billions of people (this was your original point, don't try to flip it to anecdotal bull ) have died believing things that are radical or simply flat out wrong.
I've never seen someone who manages to incorporate so many logical fallacies into his arguments the way you do. Almost all of them include some kind of bandwagon fallacy and/or appeal to popularity.
