His career winning percentage without Gasol or Shaq is about 0.500 - simply put he is not a leader.

If the Lakers miss the playoffs and the Spurs win a ring I would probably die of pure enjoyment. It would put an emphatic end to the Kobe - Tim debates
Nah. Let them slide in as a 7 seed late in the year, rekindle all the talk about them making a late run to a le (Nash IS the difference, etc.), and then get swept by Memphis or OKC in the first round. It would be 4 more games of Lakers playoff losing to enjoyably watch. All while Kobe is shooting 25+ shots per game and then blaming his team for not stepping up while he half-asses 3/4ths of the game on defense.

I root for only 2 things every NBA season.

    In order:
    1) Spurs win the NBA Championship
(if 1 does not apply, see 2)
    2) Lakers lose in the NBA Finals

Face it its not as entertaining unless LA is still playing.

I don't know. I guess you would have to look at the schedules to figure it out. I imagine the Lakers are definitely behind the 8 ball based on their strength of schedule. But how does their schedule compare with teams like the Jazz, TWolves, Blazers, and Nuggets that they will be competing with for spots?

You've obviously never spoken with a Lakers fan... unfortunately I live in LA so I hear it all the time. Down here they think Kobe is the 2nd best player in NBA history

P&G only down 15 points at the half to a tough Cavaliers team.

Don't let Cleveland's 4 win, 17 loss record fool you now. They have really good uniforms.

Valiant effort tonight. Cut the Cavs' 15 point halftime lead and only lost by a respectful 6 points to the dangerous Kyrie Irving 5-17 Cleveland ballclub.

Record stands at 9-13. Only 4 losses behind Minnesota for the 8th seed.

Next up New York on Thursday on TNT. Tune in.

This keeps up, and with the little tantrum he threw last night, I don't see him lasting to the all-star break.

You're not allowed to, last time I checked. You can't fire 2 different coaches under contract in a single season; the issue came up in (I believe) 2004 after the summer when Larry Brown was shipped out and at about mid-season they fired Randall Ayers and signed some coach named Chris Ford for the rest of the season and were forced to stick with him.

Lakers only down 5 points to the Charlotte Cats at Staples.

Still have 24 minutes to pull it out, especially with Pau Gasol returning tonight.
