Again, I can't blame Tubbs. He learned the hard way that the Big XII is much tougher than the SEC.
Actually what Tubs learned the hard way was that he hated Lubbock.

It didn't help that the fans never warmed up to him.

He was a square peg trying to fit into a tumbleweed

Had Tubs been able to win, the fans would have accepted and loved him. And he would have loved Lubbock.

The point is he was a failure in Lubbock who took a lesser job at Cincy knowing he would be fired after next season if he had another mediocre season. He had no confidence or balls to stay another year in Lubbock and try to prove that he was a good coach.

Beating ut and ou in the same season would have warmed many hearts for sure.

Kliff will get more leeway from fans if he has a losing season or two to start off.

There are going to be a lot of losses next season.

Tech is in really bad shape talent wise. Before Tubs left they were like rated 40 by Rivals in 2013 recruiting, now they are in the 70's. They have only 13 recruits and the usual
2-3 might not make it because of grades. They have talent at RB and WR and QB Brewer looks to have some upside. But they have holes on the OL and they DL and LB's are horrible. Not sure how to evaluate thie secondary since they don't have the benefit of any pass rush.

Tech could be worst than Kansas and ISU next season.

seems like kingsbury's hiring of jinks is paying off here locally.

Steele offensive lineman Deionte Noel, a 6-foot-3, 300-pound junior, committed to Texas Tech.
Noel, a first-team all-district 28-5A lineman last season, also had offers from Houston and Rice.
He joins Knights running back Justin Stockton as Tech commitments who were recruited by former Steele coach and current Tech assistant Mike Jinks.

    Nice.

I think Kliff's thought process of bringing in young, hungry guys like himself will pay off all over the place.

by the way blake, my daughter is a freshman in the band at steele this year so i've been to most of their games. stockton is very fast, gets to the corners quick and has great explosion. he's not big but he may beef up this off season. he can dominate but i'm still not sure about him between the tackles. he also has good hands and can catch out of the backfield. had steele not blown out half of the teams they played this past year he would have easily rushed for over 2000 yards but he often played for only one half (and would still have over a hundred yards in those games) for tech, he may be a nice fit. i'll keep an eye on noel this upcoming season and get you some updates on both how he and stockton do.
