Subpar considering his ceiling on that end, but I'll let it slide since he's averaged 20 on 66% shooting from the 3 tbh.
Well, that's the story... Neal is the same. When he was shooting lights out, his atrocious D is excusable. But when the shots don't fall, then it's a whole lot of nothing.

The thing with Green, is that he's shown to be much better defender before. It's not like Neal that never has or doesn't have the tools.

Time to play Mills over Neal for a few games methinks.
That's how you kill a guy's confidence. Gotta keep Naal in there and hope he shoots himself out of this slump. We need him too badly.

a guy like danny green with his athletics ability who cant finish strong inside the key is just lame, greens defense is also questionable at times....

well, I disagree. He routinely misses his rotations and he's late to close on his man... he's not costing us games as much as Neal isn't costing us games... we have Tim, Tony, etc that can win the game for us. But we can't afford to regress, especially the role players.
I guess it's a matter of expectations. You're expecting Green to be an impact player each game. I'm OK with a basically second year player being able to start and soak up minutes and not screw the pooch, so our better players are in a good place to win us games.

Would I like Green to be an impact player every game? Yup. Do I think that's a justifiable expectation? Nope.

No, actually, we're discussing things like reasonable adults, something you wouldn't understand.

    Neal 2-8

Neal seems to have a lot of sub 25% shooting nights.

    I wouldn't go that far.

And you are right about the unsubtle morons who often inhabit the game thread.
That's where my hate is directed.

I don't expect Green to be an 'impact player'... none at all. I expect him to be solid. Solid means playing passable defense, and making some of your shots.

The biggest issue with Green is that the mistakes are mostly mental. It's not that he doesn't have the tools to do what needs to be done. He gets lost, forgets, sometimes takes bad shots, bad decisions on the break, etc etc etc

Neal's in major need of a slump busting game. This has gotta be the worst stretch of his Spurs career.

    Hopefully they play better Friday.

Well. Lets see. He was good this game and made limited mistakes and was fantastic on offense. He was pretty good against the Lolcats and the Wizards but certainly not mistake free. He was really bad against the Suns, but was great against the Hornets (after recovering against Eric Gordon in the second half) and the Mavericks. So, no, he doesn't "routinely" miss his rotations. He is erratic and streaky, but he hasn't hurt the Spurs and is a net positive.

Danny's hot shooting the past few games and especially tonite, shouldn't cloud our judgement on how he has been so deficient in defense on average the whole season long.

I can accept his streakiness (at least in the reg season), and his ty overall offensive game (passing & layups), but not the drop in defense, considering he was at least a slight above average defender last season (if not more), now he's not much better compared to the ty Neal.

I'm with Nono and Ruff in this issue.

An example is where he simply lost the handle, but thankfully Crawford blew the call and called it out of bounds on the T'Wolves, then called for a jump ball. He just became careless with the ball.

Disagree. He had a great second half shooting-wise. His first half was forgettable on every aspect. The Hornets was another game where he was MIA for half a game. He can simply play better. He has in the past.

a player like danny green could be more than what his limited skillset or role he has,.....he still has room for further improvement where he could improve his game to the next level...

Halftime. Also known as "Far Cry 3 time" for me.
What can you get done in 15 minutes?

You could have done more in the last minute of the game. The ing Tcups simply didn't want this game to end. Talk about dying without some dignity.

“They find a way,” Adelman said. “That’s what Pop does. He finds a way to give a guy a spot and shows him what it’s going to take for him to help the team. It doesn’t have to be the hero effort. It just has to be a consistent effort.”

TP/Manu still make similar mistakes even though they've been in the league 10+ years. Green's not going to be LeBron on the fast break and he's not going to be a playmaker for this team. If Manu/Timmy have a big game, you're the first guy here slurpin' them to death. But when a role player puts up 28 on 8-14 from the 3 then he just hit some shots
I have yet ti watch the game but Green shooting 14 3s make me facepalm, foolsgold 2011 stuff, Danny gets more Bonnerish each day, he understands how to make Pop love him and how to get away with ty D, good for him I guess.
