    I could have believed that of the 2000 McCain, but his ham-fisted transformation into a hard-liner seemed to betray a willingness to be led (by polls and handlers) than to lead.     why does he have to be "revered"? He only needs to do the job, as far as the bloody minded, obstructionist, bad-faith Repugs permit.

    btw, fyi, a US Pres isn't the entire govt, not an unlimited dictator.

    Your point is taken, but the freedom to do away with undesireables at will puts the executive branch closer to dictatorship than at any other period in our history I'm familiar with...
