you're right. It doesn't feel right without the Stak Jack makin a return to San Antonio?? rumors
Pop is bored, ing with everyone by linking the Spurs to certain players. Meanwhile, the rest of the league tries to make moves in order to lose by 3 less points to the Heat in the East or the Spurs/Thunder/Clippers in the West.

Portland asking for a 1st round pick for JJ Hickson and finding no takers so far.
........
With 45 minutes left, I still think that Blair will be gone just around the deadline time. Something will come along. Get something instead of nothing.
A very quiet trade deadline day so far with only marginal trades.
Sounds like Hawks are "seriously engaged" in Smith talks with the Bucks. Probably means Blair is gone. But for what?
Can't wait til the deadline passes to hear how close the Spurs were to making a trade but the paperwork wasn't filed quickly enough or it was called off at the last second.
I think Smith will end up in Milwaukee in the next 45 minutes.
must be only the right kind of first-round pick they're after, you'd have thought.
And.. btw.. the Wizards (trading Jordan Crawford for nothing but Barbosa's expiring) and the Kings (trading a #5 lottery pick in his rookie season) continue to show that they are run by some really bad FOs.
What's more surprising the lack of Utah rumors. They are going to let Jefferson walk for nothing?
Spurs forward DeJuan Blair just went thru full shootaround, which ended 60 min. before trade deadline ... draw your own conclusion

If no takers, then it's cap space at the end of the day.
Pretty embarrassing when you're the Spurs and you don't want to give up the 30th pick fot a player wo could actually help. That or Portland is lying.
that or portland wants a better pick than just the last 1st rounder.
why can't we offer stephen jackson for hickson
then turn around and trade blair for casspi
If Atlanta trades Smith, it's new starting power forward will be Dejuan Blair. Who will we get in return? All we really need is a back up point guard that can dribble against Eric Bledsoe.
That or they want a better 1st than what we could offer.
Blazers probably want a top 15-20 pick.
The thought is no trade brings playoff capital, while a trade may bring in a lingering asset like a first round pick, but they would most likely lose the playoff capital.
I think Portland just wants a pick and no players. Spurs would have to trade a player to get Hickson b/c of the 15 man roster.
Maybe they are good at keeping quiet. Of course, it takes two teams to play that game the right way.

That's high rent...
Expiring contract- so you would just be renting. Plus as they always say be Leary of players performing well at the end of a contract.
30th pick is effectively a 2nd round pick. "1st round pick" in trade talks usually means lottery, or at every least 20th or better.
