He's the best rebounder on the bench, that enough to do whatever it takes to get him acclimated imo rather than play Blair who is a proven defensive liability or Bonner the choker, but I'm not surprised one bit Pop choses to go with the turd towers.
OK,just didnt seem like a pot stirring worthy trade to me![]()

So, w/ the new rules regarding D-League call ups, does this mean the CoJo is here to stay?
Players can be sent up and down an unlimited number of times. It was the old rule that had the limit.
I expect Cojo to be in civilian clothes come playoff time. He got called up so he can have courtside seats to the playoffs........unless he explodes in garbage time.
unfortunately Pop will run with what he got. TP, Manu and Neal![]()
If you want to watch tonight's game, it will be on FSSW at 7:30 pm CST as well as YT link
Playoffs are 20+ games away, so it's definitely not that.
He either got called up because they expect to be without Neal and Jackson for more than the next couple games (in which case he'll ride the pine), or because the staff feels he's earned an opportunity to play for the backup PG spot. I'm hoping it's the latter, because I really think he can take it.
As much as I don't like Blair at times, I don't understand why he keeps getting benched when he is doing well in the game(just going off of a thread someone made about Blair and that he should've stayed in the game recently).
Hopefully Blair can be consistent off the bench. And Blair was 7-9...pretty nice.
If that were the plan, wouldn't he have been called up for the RRT?
Happy for Cojo. Hope he gets the chance to win a spot in the rotation.
If, with 20 games left, Pop is turning to Cojo to see if he can handle back up point guard for 20 games and the playoffs, we are screwed. That's not enough time to prep an inexperienced player for the intensity of the playoffs. It may be the case, though.
Baynes with some nice passes.
Nice block by Baynes and then the dunk on the other end.
"Screwed" is a little dramatic. He could win the job in the reg season, but if he wets the bed in the playoffs there are three options to take over the role.
I look at it like this...you know what you have in the other two guys, but giving Joseph a shot (even if it's a long one) is no-lose. He either proves he's too green for the big show, or he surprises and shows just how good of a system player he is.
shame on the 2 quick fouls...lets see what he does now
In the playoffs there's a much greater concentration on fundamental basketball X and O's and in this environment Blair simply cannot compete, as we've seen time and time again. Blair fans want Blair to succeed on Blair's terms - more PT - and are seemingly willing to pay any price to see Blair's mug on the court.
Spurs fans want Blair nailed to the bench or even better, off the team entirely, for he is a liability and not an asset.
Simply turn the equation around. Imagine if we were going against a team with a turd such as Blair in the playoff lineup, you'd be licking your chops. Blair cannot guard anyone in the paint. Defense wins championships. Not 6'5" forwards who are easily exploited and abused.
Baynes with 12 of 16 pts in the 4th quarter while playing with 5 fouls; helped the Toros finally take the lead. Left hook has been one of his go to moves and had a nice left handed block.
Another solid game from Baynes.![]()
I think the callup means that Joseph is making some strides. Hope he gets an opportunity to show his progress.
De Colo can't hit the broad side of a barn and you want him to play shooting guard? Even Pop has more sense than that.
I'm not sure why most people on this forum say that Mills has been inconsistent. He's had much less time to showcase himself on the court due to most of the backup minutes going to De Colo the last few weeks. When he does play though, he gets a positive +/-, which is what the point of basketball is--to outscore the other team. All of the play making and "real point guard duties" are done by Manu, so all Patty has to do is get open for jumpshots, something that he does well.
Gary Neal plays a similar role as Patty, but his questionable shot selection, and the fact that he's in a shooting slump don't necessarily make him a clear upgrade over Mills. He's also much slower than Patty, which makes it harder form him to bring up the ball and defend quicker, athletic guards.
De Colo's a great back up point guard IF he has the ball in his hands and is the one that initiates the plays. Unfortunately for him, Manu also needs the ball in his hands when he's on the court, which forces De Colo to play a spot up shooter role. This being his first season, I don't think he has the confidence (yet) to consistently knock down threes or wide open jump shots in the playoffs.
I'm all for Cojo getting a chance, but isn't it a bit too late into the season to begin experimenting with someone who hasn't been with the team for the majority of the season so far?![]()

Baynes needs an offseason to work into the system, get stronger and learn his role with the team but he looks like he genuinely wants to be there and is trying to earn that spot. As for Joseph, keep working him when you can but as far as him having a big role in the playoffs I don't see it happening. The kid is young though, lots of potential and has had a lot of time to learn the system, he'll get his chance and he'll be successful when he does.
First year for Nando so there is still that foreign learning curve, he's much better when he's creating but like mentioned above he's usually out there with Manu. Just hope that we get a dose of some true PG's rather than questionable Gary Neal dribbling into corner, dribbling off his foot or taking bad forced shots.
