I'd like them to, but on the other hand I like that the team nor Duncan gives a flying crap.
I'll admit:::he hasn't carried his bag as earnestly as he has this season in a long time.
I'd like them to, but on the other hand I like that the team nor Duncan gives a flying crap.
If Duncan doesn't get DPOY this year, I am going to have to burn something down.
Just spare the statue of Magic Johnson please...
I mostly agree with y'all's sentiment; it'd be cool if the FO could somehow push for it.
Get the announcers talking about it on national TV - which seems the only chance they have against Stern's veto power.

I agree. As I've been saying since early in the season, it's going to take that for him to even have a legit shot to win DPOY, considering the lack of mention he get's (insane as it sounds, it wouldn't shock me if he didn't even make the All-Defensive team). 1st team, on the other hand, he'll have a legit shot at, but them trumpeting him wouldn't hurt.
The first step is acknowledging that he's a C, considering how hesitant a lot of media are to refer to him as a C (how else can the ridiculous notion that "Gasol is the best all around C in the league" be explained?), ever since the Spurs arguing years ago that he was still a PF in order to keep his All-Star starting streak alive. The fact that Splitter is now starting alongside him doesn't help matters.
The thing he has going for him is the lack of a surefire candidate. The media loves slobbering over Gasol and to a lesser extent, Noah and Chandler, but they're not typical All-NBA 1st team type names and neither is Lopez.
Since they're too dumb to think of it themselves, someone should tweet the beat writers and ask them to ask Pop about it. Pop being as respected as he is, you know if he says something akin to what he said about Parker essentially being the best PG in the league this season, the masses will take notice.
A 33-32, 8th in the East juggernaut? Not sure if you forgot the blue text or not.
Sanders has had an amazing season, but considering the overall success of the team is usually factored into these things, coupled with the fact that Duncan is one of the best defensive players of this era and has never won a DPOY, I would like to think that would sway a few votes in his direction.
I'd probably be wrong, but it's nice to dream.
I think he felt the blue text wasn't necessary because of how stupid the statement was tbh.
Don't see why Pop can't use some of that influence/respect he has to tout TD (for DPOY) during his interviews. Maybe someone could email Skip Bayless - he seems like the media person who likes the Spurs the most and would be most likely to put it out there.
Sometimes sarcasm is so sarcastic one feels blue text unworthy of it. I'm struggling to believe someone would fail to catch it. I'll give Spurs fans a pass on that since Milwaukee has had an unusual amount of success against them in recent years, but just this one time.
...and then the backlash could cost him votes. If you want a case made for an award, Skip is just below Sean Elliott for who you want doing it.
It will more than likely happen. With the Lakers 'resurgence' of course Dwight and Kobe are both going to be on it. Yes, it is pathetic but it's the way the world turns. And as far as Timmy D getting DPOY as a consolation gift for his career? They'll give it to someone else, LBJ probably. Who cares. Duncan doesn't need it to validate anything.
I honestly hope he wins it. He's been undeniable deserving of it for so many years; and to be snubbed, year after year, is disgusting and frankly unacceptable.
In a perfect workd, he wins it, hands it back, then tells the league to suck it.
And this is from a player who is close to retiring.![]()
Timmy absolutely deserves both the DPOY and All-NBA 1st Team. Unfortunately, DPOY will probably go to LeBron and All-NBA 1st Team Center will go to Dwight.
Surely he is due for a career award (DPOY) this year, there is no one demanding the award and TD leads the league in DRating as well as having the 2nd highest DRtg in his career of anyone.
really like this article about who's the best center in the NBA today-

Duncan's 80.6% FT this year, is his highest ever since he played in the NBA![]()
saying that Gasol is a far better defender than Timmy. Duncan does everything better than Gasol other than FT shooting, passing (barely) and defending the pick and roll.
Lebron and Durant are the only players that have been unarguably better than Tim this season, tbh, when you consider defensive performance as well..
He has been one of the top 5 players in the league this year, it would be a travesty if it doesn't get recognized..
The game vs. Miami on Sunday will play a large factor in Duncan's accolades this year IMO..everybody will be watching this game..
This
Not far from the truth and prolly gonna happen too
Bottom line
It would be a tragedy if he didn't end up with at least an All-NBA 1st team bid. How can the voters drop the ball so hard... not to mention his team is in first place... he's missed a few games, but he's still top 3 for DPOY too. Do these guys even watch basketball?
