Couldn't be more wrong.
Did you forget who is coaching the spurs? 2 of those guys suck ass, 1 is injured and the other guy Pop won't use. ing idiot.
Couldn't be more wrong.
Whos the PF he won't use?
Oh I'm sure Pop will find it "necessary"....
we should have signed him in the off season like i was offering at that time!!
Again, I completely disagree.
If Pop was deseperate, he would have keep Stephen Jackson and dealt with his issues even if was a detriment to the younger players.
He filled a need in the best possible situation and to get a veteran who can play 10-15 minutes a game to spell Kawhi is not desperate.
Time will soon tell if that was smart signing.
He got a ring. And then a DUI.
Baynes. Duh. He can fill either PF or C depending on matchups.
I'm not sure I like it but I guess it doesn't hurt as long as he can accept his role. There have been times that he hasn't been happy with his role and made a fuss about it. Also we already have one very old injury prone player on our team. Do we really need another known "injury prone" player?
The center.
Love how we can't use Baynes at all because 50+ games wasn't enough to teach him the spurs system despite having a spurs assistant coach on his Australian national team... yet most here have penciled in McGrady for 15 minutes a game already.

Solid move tbh, considering the cir stances. Harlem and Bruno mentioned any points I'd bring up.
Baynes can fill in at power forward depending on matchups. Idiot.
Man, we don't have to much choices. T-Mac, D-League or nobody. So I guess T-Mac is easily better than the other options..
8, and we all know you think 15 seasons in the NBA counts for nothing and you don't watch the games anyway, so why bother trying to explain anything to you?
The FO found the one guy that could be added to the roster this year at this late date. T-Mac hasn't been on any NBA roster this year. He's been playing in China and averaged 25 pts a game. So he's in some kind of shape, not just a layabout, and still has some shooting left in him.
I tell you this. I watched him in Houston and he's a good passer and a better defender than most give him credit for.All in all, this is another interesting move by the Spurs team of Pop and the FO and typically off the wall and unexpected by most observers.![]()
I guess if they have a PF as slow as he is, sure.
Seriously, though, I like this signing as much as possible for signing someone who won't play in the regular season (and probably won't play in the playoffs, IMO). If the objective was to sign a small forward that provides high upside in the unfortunate case Leonard goes down, you can't do better than TMac at this point. He still has a high upside despite his knee problems.
Speaking of his knee problems, his issue seems to be endurance. For a game or two or three, he has played well. But it's the grind of the 82-game season his knees just can't handle. Considering this is a playoff-only signing, his knees are much less of an issue.
But I really, really doubt he gets a minute in the playoffs unless something goes wrong. At the very best, he's the fourth string SF behind Leonard, Green and Ginobili. He'll most likely sit in a suit on the sidelines.
This signing would have been a lot more meaningful if it occurred even a week ago. Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-i-i-i-ii-i-iii, if he would have been able to play last night, that would have made a big difference in his outlook.
The bottomline is it's a surprising/exciting move by the Spurs but it won't amount to anything.
Well, the frontcourt has Duncan, Splitter, Diaw, Blair, & Bonner. So it was going to be hard for Baynes to get minutes.
T-Mac won't have the issue behind Leonard and Green will probably play some SF. He may not get 15 minutes a game.....but he will get some playing time because he can still pass, hit a 3, and be a playmaker.
I guess Spurs felt they needed a 1'st round exit expert. Going out with style yo!!! J/K at least I hope. I like this pick up honestly, I hope it all works out well for both parties. Will he even get PT though, or is it " Not fair to the team>?
You have to be kind of an idiot, or just a completely negative person to think there's absolutely anything bad about this signing..... and for sake, Baynes doesn't play because he doesn't know how to play in the NBA yet. Isn't that obvious??

I guess CIA had this in the works during the Jack drama. Didn't Jack just clear waivers?
"Not fair" unless everyone else goes down with injuries.
Timvp,
I disagree. I think he will see some minutes in the playoffs. I can see a scenario in the 2nd unit in a 5 to 8 minutes section of the game. And if he's playing well....his minutes can be extended.
I don't there will be huge minutes....but in the right situation in a series, he will play.
