Religion and faith is, by definition, believing in something without evidence.

Once you start doing that, you open your mind's door for believing in all sorts of stupid , because it is emotionally appealing, just like belief in some unseen magic man who will make everything all better.
    Emotional appealing?

An atheist is someone who is certain that God does not exist, someone who has compelling evidence against the existence of God. I know of no such compelling evidence. Because God can be relegated to remote times and places and to ultimate causes, we would have to know a great deal more about the universe than we do now to be sure that no such God exists. To be certain of the existence of God and to be certain of the nonexistence of God seem to me to be the confident extremes in a subject so riddled with doubt and uncertainty as to inspire very little confidence indeed
    Emotional? But logical?

"Science is not only compatible with spirituality; it is a profound source of spirituality. When we recognize our place in an immensity of light-years and in the passage of ages, when we grasp the intricacy, beauty, and subtlety of life, then that soaring feeling, that sense of elation and humility combined, is surely spiritual."
Carl Sagan on the existence of God

yeah saying SA210 type on a message board is one thing but I didn't think people actually went to work and said that stuff to their boss. wow
If anybody that worked fro me ever expressed views like that I would look to replace them ASAFP.

You can't believe that kind of stupid and not be seriously deficient in other areas of cognitive functioning. I would take it as enough proof that they were not capable of reasoning their way out of a paper bag, and that kind of stupidty will bit you in the ass eventually.

Wow. So pretentious. That you are so enlightened because you don't believe in a god. Keep up with the made up "religious" people and ministers who you assume their cognative thoughts.
Pretentious or no, faith is precisely belief without proof. That is why there are frequent 'tests of faith.' There is no objective reason to believe in dictates or promises from 'God.' Nor is there a logical proof of God. There are logical proofs that at least some of the major religions are wrong. There cannot be multiple monotheistic Gods.

And enlightenment is the opposite of what is being gotten at. Enlightened assumes 'being shown the light' which is precisely the light and dark imagery that is common in most mystic nonsense ie most every religion. It's about knowledge and seeing for yourself; not believing something because you have been told and you want to believe it.

    Wow...
I think you should focus less on generalizing and get out. Get to know people before you put them in your boxes.

generalizing Christianity as mutually exclusive with the others or the definition of faith?

I am not criticizing a person. I am criticizing a methodology.
