I doubt the situation was as simple as Spurs wanting to sign him and Nocioni turning them down because he is under contract with his Spanish team. His Spanish team had to be fine with letting him go and I don't see why they would have been fine with that.
Good, I'd rather McGrady. He's more of an SF than Nocioni, who post injury (I think it was knee) a few years back, hasn't had the quickness to play SF, save for in select match-ups. Though Nocioni is a better three-point shooter, McGrady is more athletic, much more dynamic off the dribble and a significantly better passer, so he's got more overall upside.
Noc would have fit this system better - never been a fan of Tmac tbqh
