While the obvious answer here is that you need both a solid offensive line along with a solid running back(s) to have a successful run game, I also realize that Avante is old as and only deals in black and white.
Therefore, I would argue that one can just look at the draft this year and one can see that the general consensus amongst the NFL coaches and GM's is that the Offensive Line is just as important if not more so.
However, to back up my previous point that you need both, look at the Broncos from 1997 thru mid 2000's. When they had an elite back in Terrell Davis, he set records. However, when he went down to injury, Mike Anderson, Tatum Bell, Olandis Gary, Ruben Droughns, and then Clinton Portis all had 1,000 yard seasons and besides Portis, those other guys were pretty much garbage. So in other words, it was the O line and scheme that produced those guys, not themselves.
