mavs used to be the thing i loved most before my SJ obsession began. i loved them mavs (and now my Goddess Scarlett) more than my own life. i've been watching them mavs since the Wang Zhizhi era and i was moved to tears when the ref blew the final whistle in game 6, 2011' finals

I go to their games when interesting teams come to town. Their fans are usually outnumbered. They never sell out. You can add the number of Duh-white's children to the women who birthed those children and that is close to the number of Bullet fans.

If you are a fan of Wizards you are loyal by default.

Besides the ty teams who obviously have got the most loyal fan base ( percentage wise anyways) the most loyal fans are probably Celtics, Lakers, Bulls, Blazers

I would say spurs, but lets see what happens when timmy/pop retire

    for now, Dallas? Knicks?
They may have the better team, but I will say this: being a Spurs fan is the easiest thing in the world. It's been 15 years since San Antonio has missed the Playoffs. They've only missed the Playoffs 4 times in franchise history. Almost every single year, they've finished at the top of the Conference, won the Division le, and been a Championship contender. None of these "fans" have EVER had to deal with any kind of adversity even CLOSE to what we as Laker fans have been through. Heck, they're most disappointing season in the past decade was probably when they lost to us in round 1 and even then they won the Division and were the #1 seed.

Not saying they're team hasn't earned it, but San Antonio Spurs fans are among the world's most spoiled sports fans. Wonder how many of those "fans" would stick around after 3 consecutive 22-24 win seasons after being swept in the first round 3 years in a row. My guess is, not many.

Yes this is probably just a jealous rant, but am I wrong?

Tough one. I would say Bulls fans though. They were still packing that place even when they were losing 60 games a year, knowing full well they wouldn't win more than like 30 in a given year.

You post on Spurstalk, and you really think Spurfans are the most loyal? Way too many less bandwagoners on this site to make me ever think Spurfans are loyal as a whole. They lose a few games in a row and a bunch of people start making threads and posting about how the team needs to go into rebuilding mode and how Duncan needs to retire and Pop needs to be replaced.
uh, just cause they do that doesnt mean they stop liking their team and root for another

Posted: Sun Jun 02, 2013 2:38 pm Post subject: Will Kobe retire with just his 5 Rings, could he win 1 more?

Either way, Kobe with 5 rings is still a worthy accomplishnment, but we being Lakers fans are just greedy that way knowing it would mean so much if he could get that coveted 6th ring.

2013 - Kobe will be coming off his achilles, possibly no Dwight Howard, just the same Lakers team 1 year older with no future player to build on.

2014 - Kobe's contract expires. Many already have said Lakers likely won't fetch a player like LeBron / Carmelo because Dwight's not here, so that means if Kobe does re-sign, it's another year of mediocrity trying to squeeze into the Playoffs for a now 36 yr old Kobe playing with a 41 yr old Nash and someone like a Rudy Gay or Danny Granger in 2014.

Will Kobe ever win his 6th ring? Or does it look like it may end at 5?

The original poster asks a great question witch I have been thinking about all pre/post season and I wish I had a good answer but I don't but since I have bean thinking about it for so long I will share my thoughts and sea what you guys think. 1) If the Lakers start off bad next year like this year and it became obvious that we would not have the home coart in the 1st round of the playoffs I would totally be onbored with Kobe asking for a trade and that team would be my next favorite team (tied with Lakers) for winning it all even if he went to Boston or Miami or Clippers as long as it means Kobe getting #6 tying Jordan and basically sementing his place as the greatast of all time (GOAT but not the farm animal) 2) why do all of these people I talk to compare Kobe to Pippin and Manu I mean it seams so stupid but I don't know how to respond when they say we missed the play offs without dominent big men like Shaq or Pau or Bynum (LOL) but I cant figure out how to respond so please help with some arguments/replendencies.

Huh? That's being unloyal? No, that's call knee jerk reaction, jumping the shark, going emo etc..

I've been here quite a few years and I haven't seen any true Spurs fan jump the bandwagon for another team. Even hater who has the most negative outlook on the Spurs doesn't do that so..

First you'd have to define loyalty... is it amount of tickets sold? Merchandise? The amount of "rah rah, our team can't lose" that the teams' fans have?

I think you have to look at how a team comes out to support their team, when their team is down and they suck. More than likely the smaller market teams where no other professional team exists in the city will see more loyalty during those down years. But who can say really...

Seeing some of the games being played in their home court, Celtics and OKC are the teams that first come out of my head when talking about loyal fans with the way they filled up the seats of their home arena even before the game starts, unlike in Miami where seats are still unoccupied even after 3 mins have gone by since tipoff. I may also throw in Toronto for the reason that they are the only NBA team in Canada and people living there cherish it to avoid what just transpired at Sacramento. They support their team even though the Raptors have been irrelevant (since the creation of their franchise?). Their future/next season looks bright, fortunately.

I think the true test of loyalty is strong, consistent widespread support for a team even despite several consecutive decades of losing seasons.
