Franchise? On what planet? this isn't bizzaro world.
No, you don't bench your franchise and give end of bench guy the reins to run your team into the ground. If you're going that route, just dance with the guys who brought you.
Franchise? On what planet? this isn't bizzaro world.
2012 all over again.
yup TMac was scoring leader in NBA before.. that skill will not just go away..look at Kobe and tim D. Spurs should use him. He might win a game for the team. Its desperation times.. what else is new
It's not panic time, so I would let game 5 play out and see what happens, as a clean game by the Spurs gives them a great chance to win. Now, before game 5 even starts, if I was Pop, I would have a T-Mac adjustment in mind. This is about the team, not Manu. All I heard these playoffs is "He will play better", how long do we have to wait until he plays better? Game 1 of next season after losing the championship? It's been long enough, he won't play better. If he does, at this point, its a fluke.
People are crapping all over T-Mac based off of his garbage time minutes and throwing away anything he accomplished in China. They rather lose with Manu, than take a chance. T-Mac may physically be past his prime, but mentally, I believe he still has it. Neither me or the Spurs would be looking for him to score more than 10+ points, so don't even mention all the missed shots near 3pt land in garbage time. He would bring what the Spurs need: mobile size, rebounds, ball control/passing and possibly some good defense and scoring. Question his hustle? While its true he was slow during garbage time, he always gave effort to rebound, pass and play defense. Plus I don't think a player like T-Mac, who once was at the top of the league, would get all excited for garbage playtime with 0% effect on the outcome of the game. Although, he DID move a lot faster in game 3 during the blowout.
I don't want to lose the championship and have myself or others later on wondering, what if? If the Spurs come out and play well, he sits. If Manu is playing like crap and the Spurs need an adjustment, give T-mac a chance. I'm not calling for him to start or get 20 minutes, just see what he does with 5 minutes. He might be too slow for the Heat or just be completely unready/crappy, OR he could come out and fill a Spurs need. Would it be a panic move or a calculated risk/move?
I'm not going to be a sunshine pumping person who follows the rest of the sheep while sitting on a high horse. TD and TP have played well, but for the most part, the BIG 3 aren't pulling their weight. Kawhi and Green have been doing a ton of work. If a player is on the team, they should ALWAYS be given a look. I don't care if its CoJo, DeColo, Blair, Mills, T-Mac or even Baynes. If they could help, it should be a possibility.
Manu is part of the big 3. If you think Manu doesn't sell a huge portion of the tickets, you're living in on a different planet. You don't bench Manu in the Finals to play a washed up TMac. You live with your bread and butter players and their results because that's much easier to explain than why you benched one of your best players for a guy you just recently acquired who was one foot out the NBA door already... when you lose. The 2nd guessing would be rampant. It's much easier to say "we just didn't have enough to get the job done... we faced a better team, we hit our ceiling... I'm proud of these guys blah blah blah" than "Well we wanted to give TMac a shot since Manu wasn't getting it done... but we didn't know we'd lose by 30 and TMac would have 7 turnovers and go 0 for 10 from the 3 and totally up our rhythm since he's not even really practiced with the team... but I thought it was a good idea to just can Manu after all the years he's given us for this from Houston who couldn't get an NBA gig earlier in the year"
Look Manu isn't playing great. He admits it. Pop admits it. Tim admits it. One thing is for sure though - the guy is due a good game or two. I still believe that he can help get it done.
This! This is how you do it!
T-Mac can be the backup point guard for that matter. He has great handles and has great court vision.
T mac told me he is ready to play he would be very aggresive if his number is called , he is ready to give a Huge contribution to the spurs coming off the bench
Trust me, T mac is desiring to play !!!!!
You'd think people would learn from Vogel's mistake of sitting Hibbert because of some gimmicky attempt at hero coaching that you don't take those risks as a coach.
Take the risk ,win the championship
Even thought TMac never made it out of the 1st round in his prime.
Ok.
No thanks, I'll stick with a proven performer.
Take the risk? Win the 'ship?
Where the is Frank Vogel now?
Being 2-2 is desperation time?
The fact that we hwve him at our disposal is the reason we should use him. Why not play him an Manu at the same time. Give Manu the time to be a slasher an get open to boost his confidence. When you wanna play small, let Tmac play the 3 or the 2 an Leonard play for 4. Its a million ways to play Tmac without benching Manu. I'm waiting for manu to step up like everyone else. Ride or die, but if he costs us a championship, dont be stupid to resign his ass. I love manu, but if its time to move on then its time to move on.
No single player 'costs you a championship'. Your team as a whole was either good enough to beat the other team or not.
EDIT: Obviously, I'm talking about every player being available. If Tony/Tim go down with an injury that's a different story.
He's an insurance policy in case someone goes down. You guys need to hit the "live" button on your mental remotes and come back to the present.
Have you been watching the finals? Wade stepped up on the offensive end, an Bosh did on the defensive end. The whole team didn't. The Heat won. Manu an his bonehead plays or when he did deliver a great pass, the bigs (mainly Tiago) couldn't finish. 1 person does make a difference. 2pts till the 4th qtr is beyond trash. Thats just pathetic
Some of you are soooo ing stupid. He's a insurance player. You sound stupid as . If someone gets hurt you'll expect him to produce right!?! But not if someone is looking like its time to retire. You ass backwards mofos are re ed. He's on the ing roster! Play him.... I dint say bench Manu to play him. Let them play together an let Manu become a slasher.
In the previous game Danny and Gary stepped up and the Spurs won.
The Spurs swept the Grizzlies. They found a way. They will find a way or they will lose. It would be stupid to take your best shot and toss it out for what's behind door number 2.
We gave them 20 turnovers and they scored about 20pts off them... that's the game. And I've been watching the finals. They're a damn good team. That's why they're the defending champs.
On the same note, we took two games from them and it's a 2-2 series.
It's normally not that hard to see why you won or lost. It's never a single player.
No, you don't expect him to produce. Do you expect Matt Bonner to produce? Do you expect Cory Joseph to produce? Of course not. You expect them to defend, take the intentional foul if needed, act as a decoy, whatever. You don't put TMac in and expect anything. You hope, but expecting would make you a ing moron. Pop isn't a moron.
I'm good with that. Plus I don't care how much people think Manu should get yanked, Pop will play him. He's an integral part of the group of guys that got this team this far.
The only way Manu sits is if he's in foul trouble. Otherwise he's going to play. So let's just start hoping he plays well.
