Howard is perfect for the Spurs. RC and Pop will take him in no time, if available. Once Manu and Duncan retire, the Spurs would win more 'ships with Howard, Parker and Kawhi. Danny Green also has potential.

He's definitely not very mature, but I remember when the Grizzlies shopped Gasol and most Spurs fans thought he's not that good.

It's a risky proposition for any team to undertake - and one I can't envision the Spurs making - even if they had the cap space to do so
If you really think the Spurs would turn down a chance to sign Howard, you're delusional. Once Duncan and Manu retire, we won't be bad enough to draft a top player unless we trade Parker. Teams toil in at the bottom of the league for years hoping for a player as good as Howard, and you think any team would pass him up?

Howard/Parker would keep us as contenders for another 5+ years and could extend Duncans career an additional 2 years. Any team would be foolish to pass on him. If Howard wanted to sign and we turned him down, it would be the Spurs' Sam Bowie moment.

That said, he doesn't want to come to the Spurs. It's a non-starter.

Only a re would want Howard on the Spurs.
puh-lease. We'd instantly become favourites for the le. Obviously it won't happen but, come on. We'd be an absolutely terrifying prospect on both ends of the floor.

Howard isn't a person who's gotten over himself. He won't even work on his FTs. He belongs in LA.

Chris Bosh thinks Dwight Howard is mentally soft.

That's what LA thought. How did that work out for them?

Howard is a cancer, he's a scorer sometimes and a defender sometimes, but he's a big bag all the time and there are enough bas s running around SA.

I'd be glad if we landed him. If it doesn't work we can always flip him. He'll always have a taker willing to throw draft picks/good players for him. Having a true rim protector, shot blocker, and elite rebounder on both ends next to Timmy sounds enticing

heck to all the guys against the theoretical move we could acquire him just for trade bait

If we're going to throw away the spurs reputation for immature, wanna be franchise bigmen, i much prefer Cousins.

Jesus the stupid here is overwhelming.

Howard is a spotlight guy. He wouldn't come to SA if the price tag was 40m a year.

No big name free agent will EVER come to SA for a couple of reasons:

    1. They cannot call the shots in SA
    2. It's not posh enough, no movie stars, no real night clubs, no beaches (unless you consider the cesspool Calaveras Lake to have a beach).

If a big name was genuinely interested in winning a ring, he'd be in SA. He'd have his best shot of winning a ring in SA. It's not their main interest. I cannot blame them. The owners of these clubs are trying to make a profit. Many of them couldn't care less about the ring or the hoopla surrounding it if it's not tied to money in some fashion. These stars want to get paid through endorsements in big markets and they want to have some clout on the team, and they want to play for a coach they trust.

    LA, Chicago, NY, Miami, Boston

No other cities will get big name free agents. Not even Dallas or Houston.

LA and Miami will be the preferred locations, with NY being a distant 3rd. Money is in NY, but the lifestyle is in the other two. Nothing is in SA except a winning basketball system and an approach to the game that doesn't include marketing the superstar.

Dwight is a great talent but not sure if he can be a team player on or off the court especially by Spurs standards. Duncan and Parker probably won't be able to keep him from causing drama and because he is a superstar his antics will be magnified much more than Jackson's were. Pop will probably lose the rest of his hair trying to teach this guy to play within the system and just say " it" and retire after the season.

Dwight Howard has always been a mental midget but he's had cache wherever he's gone so he can dictate how things go, Not in San Antonio. He'd try to push and Pop would plop his ass on the bench and RC would let him rot there until he got it. He either gets with it and tries or he's used a great trade fodder for a team where we pick up multiple picks and rebuild. I think our staff can actually teach him how to shoot free throws and he'd actually have 2 guys who could teach him something in the post in Timmy and David, legit bigs with championship pedigree.

Won't happen but I don't think it'll be a total failure if it ever happened.

Lol lets just be clear. Dwight isn't coming to San Antonio. But since this is hypothetical, it would be nonsense to say you wouldn't want him here. If he doesn't work out he can be dealt at literally any time for elite pieces/draft picks anyway

lol @ the thought of any team turning down dwight howard. most of you should never post again.

the spurs don't have enough space to sign him anyway, so this is a nonissue.

Wouldn't it be some if he actually came out and said, " the money I want to win with a real team and considered san Antonio" lol, won't ever happen but that'd probably change a lot of peoples opinions about him and at least show that he's turned a corner.. but again, this won't happen.

Yeah, then the good witch of the South comes and sucks everyone's and we all cuddle together and baby Jesus brings us to heaven. Wouldn't that change how you all thought about baby Jesus? Wouldn't it be some if like OBL was actually alive and he turned up in a Spurs uniform and could sky from the FT line, and was like Manu x Jordan? Then he says "lol I was kidding about 9/11"... bet that would change how you thought of him.

Tbh if you can get Howard everybody but Duncan, Parker, and Leonard are expendable on the team.

I fully expect a coach like Pop would be a great influence on him.

I'm not the biggest Dwight Howard fan, but if we had Dwight we would have probably swept the Heat because he is truly able to dominate the paint... It's important to look at that side.

Howard will never come here. He'd be a big addition, but he just won't come here.

I never perk up when guys list SA as part of their preferred destinations, because it's always a ploy to make people think the Spurs are interested. Normally it's role players doing that so other teams think "hey if the Spurs want him, he must be great!', but now even Dwight's doing it.

I don't think Danny Green is expendable anymore either. He's good, fairly cheap, and has a great at ude.
