Not sure it had to do with aggressiveness imo, hes taken plenty of the same 'bad' shots in the playoffs that fell today.

Seems like he took it personal and gave everything he had today. Really hope Im wrong, but I dont think he can consistently play like this whether hes aggressive or not. One more performance like that should do it though, thats all we need and he can play like all next season if he wants.
Disagreed tbh. I can't remember one bad step back three on this game (besides the first shot but that was 'cause the shot clock was running down) and he attacked the basket A LOT more than in previous games.

tbh, I had a good run this year... the .500 thread, correctly predicting the Spurs-Lakers sweep, won a sig bet to DMC, this ... it only brings more pressure to be better next season, tbh
LOL make love to the pressure.

They werent as stupid as the stepback threes but alot were stilll tough shots imo, even some of the drives. Not sure he can make some of those shots consistently like he used ot be able to. Hope Im wrong though...I love Manu just as much as you Argies tbh.

I prefer him to attempt tough shots going to the rim than throwing up weak three pts attempts that have no chance of going in.

Yes that thread of his was full of insightful information as..

He isn't playing 'passive'. He's playing the role Pop gave him. That's a role that doesn't allow him to drive to the rack, or take open shots..

But El, my nig keep it 100% ...
After seeing what Manu did this game ...was last game still OK? I get he was put in a better position to succeed, but he could of done SOME of what he did this one ...

I will say that Manu said EXACTLY what you said about it being difficult to create with the way Heat play pnr ...
But TimVP was also calling for the Spurs to get away from it ...even with Tony.

"They have almost two people guarding the ball handler and they make the guy that plays the pick and roll not to have lines to the basket or open shots. We have to move the ball."

Like I've been saying, this wasn't going to change unless Manu played more off the ball, and they stopped with the high PnR... as mid put it on the OP, that's exactly what happened.

Now Manu might not score 20+ pts in another game, but it's obvious he's much more comfortable playing like that against THIS team.

His last game was ok, IMO... would've been a very different game if Splitter finishes what Manu created. Today's game was obviously phenomenal. Hope he has another one or two of these from here on out.

Don't sleep on the fact we shot lights out tonight, tbh... when Manu is playing facilitator, his 'value' is much more dependent on other players making shots...

Like I said your bball a en was solid. You called for teh appropriate adjustments and lucky for Spur fans Pop saw it too .. (LOL)
But I just think your analysis or grades of his performance was far too generous ...

Killa, you're a well versed basketball poster, and you analyze and understand the game. It's much easier for me to explain to you why certain plays are more or less favorable for certain players.

You also pick up on the little things, being a coach and all. At some point this season Manu's role changed from the scorer to the creator. It's never been about 'his numbers', but more about his teammates numbers, in his 2nd unit role.

But some people here don't have your bball knowledge, so it was expected to hear the usual "he just needs to drive" and "he needs to stop shooting"...

It just wasn't going to happen if he kept doing what Pop has instructed him to do all season long: run the high pick and roll with Splitter. He did that well, but it just wasn't conducive to this kind of production.

Sure, we all want tonight's Manu. But it's largely dependent on Pop putting him in this position to do this stuff. Last game, Pop wanted him to create and he did. Teammates couldn't finish. Manu gets the blame.

I thought Pop did an adjustment that was obvious, much like Spo did with Miller. Now Miller is 0-7 since he's been starting, so we'll see what Spo does.

Nono, DAF amd myself are the only posters who are constantly staying positive about Manu.

Everyone else wants to either suck his (when he wins us a game) and demand trades when he loses us games.

He said, "Manu needs to be more aggressive next game."

    We all laughed at him.

He said, "Manu being forced to play PG and be a distributor takes him out of his natural role a 2 guard and affects his scoring prowess."

We told him to stop making excuses for Manu's poor play and accept the fact he's done.

    Boy, were we wrong.

    What a ing call, Nono.

Manu is still a solid squad player and the Spurs are lucky enough that they have good depth and enough youngsters coming up so that they don't need to count on him every night. even when Manu has a bad game, they can still manage to win.

Well, El Pop saw what oyu saw made his adjustment and it paid off big time. Im curious to see if:

    1. Spo makes some type of adjustment to limit Manu. Ginoboli mentioned post game (w chuck, Rick Fox etc) that he was trying to attack "the seams" because of the pressure placed on the point guard, so we will see if Heat adjust their attack.

    2. If they do adjust their pressure can Manu still be efective? Doubt he duplicates this effort but if he can get 16 and 6 that would be huge.

    3. Spo will also need his players to stay attached to Green which should open up some more driving space for Tony and post feeds to Timmy. I thought spurs did a much better job working post touches for Duncan this game, taking advantage of the "hedges" that Heat are starting to make to prevent open 3's.
