2013 - made Allen leaves, Rondo tears ACL, Jet and Lee prove to be busts, Sullinger down, still took a 2 seed to 6 games without their best player.

Sounds crazy, but how many good coaches are there really in this league right now? Popovich, Thibodeau, Carlisle, and Adelman are really it right now. So top 3 is crazy, but Rivers seems like a solid 5-8 by default.

Tons of good players have been drafted in the late first. Even a few great ones.
He got them to two finals though, ECF as well. They lost to LA in the last one I know, but they were within a game 7 of taking that there. But as you said he did have some talent on that team so I can see what you are saying there. Based on getting a horrible Magic roster to near .500 when everyone knew they were going to be gone in the summer to make room for Grant Hill, Tim Duncan, or Tracy McGrady. That's gotta count for something. And also based on how many really bad coaches there are in the league.
