Good news
All you blind ass ing homers need to take a step back and realize Manu was utter garbage in the playoffs. His play was actually a detriment to his team in most cases. Yet, he gets rewarded with an above-market value contrac and eliminates the Spurs from having any cap flexibility in the process. How is that anything but a failure.
The only way it won't be perceived as such is if Manu drinks from the same fountain of youth that Duncan discovered last year. Otherwise, this is a relatively bad deal.
It should be 12M for 2 years but I'm OK with 14M for 2 years. ıt's a farewell contract at all.
I think 6.5M in first year and 7.5 M next year.
Nope. We've Diaw-Duncan-Splitter-Baynes and Bonner in front-court. We need a Krilenko type player to play smal ball against some teams like GSW and Miami.
i guess, for what we have, barnes and billups may be the best we can do (defenders who can spread the floor)-but we get older of course.
pretty sure we are out of mayos and jr smith's price range now.
oden still a possibility but i seriously doubt his comeback will be any more successful than brandon roy's was.
I'm glad to hear that Manu will end his career as a Spur and thrilled that the big three are back together.
I'm okay with the money, frankly. Other teams would have given him more, I believe, and it would just not be right to have him go elsewhere.
I was implying to sign FAs....not Manu.

In all seriousness, does that include the playoffs or is it a regular season stat? Because he was ing garbage in the playoffs.
Still wrong bro.
So the Spurs don't have the MLE to work with?
They could have had more than MLE if Manu signed for less $$. You insinuated they were in the MLE situation regardless, which is factually inaccurate.
Only if one assumes that the Spurs were going to amnesty Bonner. With no Bonner amnesty all they have is the MLE whether Manu signs for 7M or 5M.
Fair enough.
If we could get someone to take Bonner and DeColo as expiring contracts, we could still take back $8M in salary, right?
So if there's somebody out there trying to clear cap for next year, we could still add a pretty important piece.
Yes.
The Spurs have the MLE, several expiring contracts, and a sign and trade candidate (Neal). It's a bit early to assume that there will be no additions/changes.
you are the biggest piece of trash in the history! you make me want to throw up, you such full of crap!! please go yourself and don't come here again! piece of !!
Hmm, it appears that somebody's feathers have been ruffled.
would rather have manu retire as a spur than to spend his final years in some other team like pierce in brooklyn or ewing in orlando
I saw it coming. I was prepared. We just have to see how things shake out because ultimately, as Mel and Chinook said, it could end up a non-issue with Manu getting 7m vs 5m if they can land their guy with the MLE or by doing a S&T.
