lol you know what's sad? Is that if this was a big market team in NY, CA, or FL players would gladly take the minimum to flock there after a finals loss. But since it's in San Antonio, even veterans have a hard time convincing themselves they want to play there, let alone taking a pay cut.

The current CBA apparently has a thing where you can add a "pre-existing injury" clause to a contract, and if you end up waiving the player because of that injury, the rest of the contract is non-guaranteed and you're off the hook.

Under a contract like that, Bynum could be worth a deal.

Are you sure? If that was the case then why haven't these guys gotten decent offers already? That doesn't sound right to me. If you can just waive them and are off the hook, then I would have thought more teams with cap space would have offered guys like Bynum a contract already.

Both sides have to agree to such a provision. I doubt that Bynum has any interest, at this point in the process, in accepting a deal where he doesn't get paid in the event of a re-injury.

A somewhat analogous situation happened with Amare when he left the Suns. The Suns were only willing to guarantee three of the five years due to the injury risks and insurance issues. The Knicks were willing to guarantee all five years and assume the risks.

Players won't assume any additional risk until they're convinced that there isn't a single team that will give them a fully guaranteed deal.
