He DID say he was the 2nd best center behind Shaq.![]()
Agreed.
The Spurs need to get in on this like yesterday. Offer whatever for Vasquez.

Why not just a straight trade for Vasquez?
Think he's worth a first rounder? The Spurs normally don't give away picks like that but the kid is legit.
It's going to be sad to see Vasquez go to a team that isnt the Spurs.
The Pelicans being a young team would love to pick up another first for next year to continue to build. Meanwhile, Vasquez helps this year and begins the transition building.
He's a 6'6 point guard who is a good passer and can shoot the ball. Is basically a 15 & 10 player per around 37 minutes, that's beyond solid for a backup. I think he could put us over the top. Could play a little two guard too.
A Vasquez - Manu run second unit would be awesome. Would allow Manu to play off the ball more. 9 assists per game for Grievas last season.
He's going to go to Sacramento when Evans get's S&T to the Pelicans. Watch.
I'd try to give them a guard or something for him. I don't think he's worth a first when they already have to draft picks backing up Parker now. Maybe if Vasquez had more than one year left on his deal, I'd still consider it. But a first in next year's draft is too much to pay for a rental.
Yeah...that's the only catch. Could the Spurs get him to agree to an extension?
Why a rental? Who's to say we can't resign him next year? He's 5 years younger than Parker and could fill a starting role once Parker leaves or retires. Might could even be Ginobili's replacement at the 2.
That's a crap shoot though. The Spurs are going to be in rebuild mode soon and knowing this he might not want to stick around for it.
Seems like he might like it in SA and want to stay.
I would trade a first for him even if there wasn't a guarantee though. I know the draft is strong next year but lets stop acting like we know what's going to be there in the late 20s. Plus, if the Spurs really want back in the draft when the time comes then they can worry about making a move to get back in it.
Vasquez is a game changer and exactly what the Spurs need.
They can extend him this season, but as benefactor said, what price would be worth it? They'd have to give up some of their guards just to let it all make sense. Maybe send Joseph to Toronto and De Colo go Atlanta. In any event, I'd love a competent backup point-guard (especially a young one), but I'd be wary about trading for him without a good extension in mind. That'd at least insure he's going to buy in to coming off the bench.
Vasquez is from Venezuela, IIRC... maybe Manu can give him a call, tbh
A first could just end up becoming another Jean-Charles, so I know it's not exactly invaluable, but still, that's a lot of picks to invest in one position.
I also think Joseph could be a lot better next season. De Colo could as well, especially now that it seems he's buying in. I don't think the team should take giving up on them lightly.
I like Joseph but I wouldn't have a problem unloading him and De Colo if it meant we have Vasquez signed up.
Wouldn't it be funny to see a player traded twice within the same division over the course of a year? That's almost as bad as what happened with Robinson.
I'd be fine with it if the team moved them for something (second-rounders are fine). But I wouldn't want them rotting on the bench for nothing, especially because neither can play the Neal role.
we're gonna be playing plenty of small ball too in that second unit, I suspect... so a 3 guard combo out there is not out of the question. I don't see getting Vazquez meaning CoJo/DeColo can't play. He could just have Neal's role.
