I agree that a big part of the future making of the team will be through the draft, but I can see the Spurs getting a few good free agents. I don't see the team tanking for a few seasons just to get a high draft pick. I don't think the Spurs will need a total rebuild.

Look at Detroit since they broke up their core. They've tried to take shortcuts and sign middle FAs. They've sucked, and had to SPEND draft picks to get rid of mistakes like Ben Gordon. Josh Smith won't help. They might finally make the playoffs...and miss the lottery in the best draft in a decade next year. They'll be in the Houston trap, barely in or barely out of the playoffs, and never drafting high enough to get any better.

I'd take Drummond over anyone in next years draft
