All belief is a choice, irregardless of its validity or not. Truth on the other hand is an entirely different matter.
For example, you can CHOOSE to believe I am a troll as you said in the other thread, but just because you chose to believe that, does not make it a truth, it is merely your opinion, and opinions cannot be proved one way or the other.
However BELIEF connotes an action that is taken each and every moment. You may wake up tomorrow and believe something entirely different than what you believe today, i.e. that I am not a troll.
You have to actively get involved to make the decision to BELIEVE anything at any point in time. And still, it is simply an opinion. On the other hand, truth always is true and is firmly outside of opinion. Yet you can have opinions about what you choose to believe as being truth, even if it isn't.
Furthermore, unless you are in actuality inside another persons mind, then you cannot KNOW their belief at that given moment, rather you are just guessing and thus assuming. There is much more la ude that you will be wrong in your assessment.
Truth is not true just because you say it is, nor just because the majority believes it is, thus the flat earth analogy that I gave you. Truth is true simply on its own merit. And most of the time stares us right in the face, yet we choose (free will again) to believe, or choose to believe, whatever fits our agendas at any given moment.
And if it doesn't conveniently fit neatly in our own self constructed little boxes, then we can choose again to disregard it, ....... or accept it, yet again.
Belief is not necessarily TRUTH.
Belief is only the action of acceptance of something, and thus falls into the category of opinion.
You are free to believe I am a troll, however just because you happen to believe that, does not make it so.
