Faces had one cold ass beat.
You haven't heard many musicians talk about rap then. Give up the dumb shtick. Is free jazz not music either? Ambient music?
Faces had one cold ass beat.
Andre murdered the track.
IMHO they are. But rap? Jury is still out for that. Where is the tonal quality? The only instrument I hear is drums.
Seriously! No schtick involved. I am open to points of views, however. Just because it is sold in the music sections of most stores does not automatically make it a musical genre. I don't hear any melody or harmony lines like you do with soul music, which I really like.
Again, many rappers and rap groups use live instrumentation and/or sing.... for someone who pretends to be open-minded, you sure have a closed-minded view of what music is, tbh....
rap music is bad for youth...but I listen anyway...
Pregnant Pussy
Hip-hop is an art form with 4 components, two are musical - rap and turntablism. These are things we know.
And you sure like to make snap judgements based off of simple questions.
Don't you realize that is more closed minded than my asking questions?
I wasn't pretending, I don't need to.
But it seems you took it rather too personally.
For your information I am a musician these days, is why I asked. I don't Get the whole rap thing.
And I never know where my next inspiration for a new song will come from which is why I am so inquisitive.
That should bring you up to date.![]()
Thank you, Lee. I was hoping for a civil answer like that.
You could take a lesson or two in civility from Lee here, CN.
Well yeah, everybody that uses cowboy hats and boots looks idiotic, tbh.
I can do it better.
nˇggers.
any1 here remember this classic mixtape by 9th? it's been 10 ing years
Nas got so many classics
this really isn't early 2000s but the best collab since Big L and Jay's freestyle, tbh
Oh and since I already mentioned the word freestyle, this bangs, just flows off the top of his head while drunk as
Just for clarification:
What are the four components?
And how is turntablism musical?
Are you saying that a turntable is a musical instrument?
Because I always thought a turntable was a device for the playing of records and listening to already recorded music.
A turntable can definitely be used as a musical instrument. It fits your chosen definition easily.
4 elements of hip hop are rhyming, dj'ing, breaking, and graffiti.
The rhyming fits for cadence and timing, but how does dj'ing fit?
Breaking? What is being broken and why?
And graffiti is a visual art form, not an aural one, which music is.
Help me understand this better. No disrespect is intended.
watch wild style or style wars.
Shut up got
use Google
Exactly.
Now look at the rap/hip hop world - and this is exactly how idiotic you look.
Look back at the disco era - and see how goty and stupid those tight pants and open shirts with chains look and goty guys dancing like Tony Manero /Travolta look -
fast forward 30 years - this is how goty all you rap wanna-bes - (mainly the ones that aren't even black) are going to look when you look back.

I'm a big fan of hip-hop and I dress like a normal human being, just because the rappers choose to dress a certain way doesn't mean that all their listeners do too.
Yes, I agree with you. I am referring to those sideways baseball cap, jeans ten sizes too big under their ass, talking gangsta', wanna be black
idiots.
A truly enlightened perspective, as always.
And this response explains what exactly?
That you are mature?
Or more likely you have something to hide since you evaded the questions?
Your discussion at ude speaks volumes.

A turntable has a switch. One click and it goes = OFF
One click in the other direction and it goes = ON
Years and years and years of musical training go into this seemingly simple act. A DJ goes through a woodshedding - phase - you know like for example a young Eddie Van Halen - or a very young Andres Segovia - when they would spend 18 hours a day in a room by themselves with their musical instrument - for months and years on end. After this woodshedding - they would face the world and the world would drop their collective jaws.
A DJ - if that is the proper le - does the same thing - then one day - they flick this ON/OFF switch with the world as witness.
Same thing if you compare a vocalist who woodshedded and trained their voice - and played years and years of ty gigs to become a world class vocalist -
A rapper - flicks on the switch - you know - the switch where the pre-recorded drums play (the drums that were recorded by a real drummer)- then he talks really fast or really angry and cusses a lot - suddenly he is known as an artist.
Quite amazing.
