What I said was fraudulent? That was what you took away from what I said? I wasn't selling anything.
I was explaining some things that I have learned however. I repeat, "things I have learned".

What is your definition of your subjective reality?

Mystic = One who has a deep, inner sense of Life and Unity with the Whole. Or a person who claims to attain, or believes in the possibility of attaining, insight into mysteries transcending ordinary human knowledge.

Realities = Everything that is and has been, whether or not it is observable or comprehensible. A broader definition is everything that has existed, exists, or will exist.

Self = The essential qualities that cons ute a persons's uniqueness or essential being.

These are things that you could have just as easily looked up for yourself.

Deepak Chopra is a New Age guru, but you could easily argue that he is a mystic.

I contend we are all mystics as long as we are on the path to seeking our inner Truth.
And that happens as soon as we realize what SBM has said about what we have been brainwashed all our lives to accept as real, as reality, or as truth, is not the Real Truth or Reality we were born with.
There is so much BS here is difficult to know where to start so I will go with this New Age Mystic Medicine man fad. Guys like Chopra are very well versed in their field but then when they get down to something that confuses them they totally disregard science and make some rather wild claims that suck in people that are semliterate and curious (not to be equated with I don't know, this is not what Chopra does to attract attention)

Chopra, for example, claims that genes must be intelligent because humans are intelligent. Yet genes are just regions of DNA that contain information for producing proteins, which in itself is a simplified view based on what we know now. Chopra claims that scientists fail tp look at mechanisms outside of DNA responsible for intelligence and therefore his mystism is critical for our understanding.

Scientists do not consider any attempt to find intelligence outside of DNA “preposterous.” It is not a reasonable inference to conclude that because our brains are “intelligent” must imply that our genes are also “intelligent,” nor do scientists make that argument. We are realizing the incredible interplay between gene control, gene products, environment impinging on neural networks at various stages of development, yet we need mysticism because we have run out of ideas?
Nope. So Deepak is not clever enough to see a mechanism therefore Science can't handle it?

    Give us a break.

This is worse than any preacher making buttloads of money fooling people. This guy actually knows most of his stuff but then he makes these incredible half-baked leaps in logic to convince types that are fairly well acquainted with an area of science... They have read stuff, but don't get the deeper problems that science is attempting to deal with so they throw up their hands and go mystic. Wonderful, we can't get it because all these mystics like Xmas don't...

As far as God? Are you Frkn kidding? What is God? Of course science can't handle something that people have invented that has nothing about mass, velocity, energy?.. Jesus Christ how can science handle something that we have no way of observing through any method. So we leave that up to the religious (including mystics) to go about their own methods that have nothing to do with science.

I personally have no problems with meditating, spirituality, any of the methods that help people find some peaceful meaningful place for them. Just don't be disingenuous and link it with the very restricted method of science. Or claim that science can't solve certain problems dealing with the human brain because Deepak can't.

Repeat the above for most of the others Xmas mentions.

So now why don't we distort quantum mechanics into something that is mystical as well? Can't wait to see the leapfrog logic on this one...It's very tough, and anyone claiming they have a good grip on the whole of it don't really know it. So it's easy to go magic mystical on this one.

Jews and Muslims don't generally push their religious agendas into the socio-political arena the way the bat crazy Christians do.

But if you can point out where they do let me know and I'll trash them too.

smhlol you trying to sneak "evolutionists" in with crazy religious nuts.

It may surprise you to find out that I agree with practically everything you wrote, even though you leveled your criticism at me, and that I am not a Chopra fan. In point of fact, I am one of his critics, but none of that negates that he has some truths to impart, or that he is on a mystical path.

Like I said, the word "mystic" or "mysticism" has attained some measure of derision these days. That may be well and good. It forces the issue for those "self-proclaimed" mystics to clean up their act so to speak, that is, if they even bother to consider what any one thinks about them. I doubt they do.

My contention is that for those on the path for Truth, that they do not negate any source, methodology, or mechanism from aiding them in understanding all that there is, and as much as they can at any given moment. They refuse to accept the status quo, and thus actively attempt to lift the veils that hide the truth, be it brainwashing, or whatever.

In this respect, I am no different than you or anyone else, who is on that path.
Plus, it is no more mystical or mysterious than eating breakfast or taking a . It just is.

You would be surprised to learn how many of the greatest minds that have existed, be they scientist, philosopher, or what have you, were considered the mystics of their times, from Confucius, Jesus, Aristotle, Plato etc. to Einstein, Huxley, Planck, Tesla etc. Indeed, they left no stone unturned on their way to their discoveries, all in the quest to discover Truth.

They were not concerned with how the average Joe, Tom, , and Harry perceived them. They were not satisfied nor complacent nor content with everyday mundane explanations of reality. Because they inherently knew or felt that there was more beneath the surface than what their normal senses showed. And still they suffered their fair share of derision and ridicule from the ignorant, uninformed, and brainwashed among them. Yet none of this stopped them.

How you arrived at your conclusions from what I have said before escapes me. Because as I said, I agree with your assertion, except where you have conveniently inserted me into it. See my statement above for better clarity.

Everyone starts at some basic status quo. I think it is fundamentally correct, given that there is no clear definition of what god is, to say that science cannot answer questions about god.

And everyone of those men you mentioned had their status quo hang ups. Einstein could not abide that quantum mechanics relied heavily on probability. "God does not roll dice" ...

You are referring to modeling problems in a different way. There is nothing mystical about modeling, so why not use a new model instead of mystical? And the modeling is based on sound reasoning. I guess it's too boring so something that borders on magical sounds better?

And reasonable people negate sources that are not based on fundamental logic and reasoning. Sorry, but when my wallet falls off the dresser in the middle of the night, I am not spending time on searching for my dead grandmother penny pincher. Have you heard of Occam's razor? It's very useful, try it. Or wander aimlessly, we only have a short time, cut to the chase.

    You are such a .

Religion and Science are two completely different endeavors humans have invented to help them answer questions. Science stays the out of moral, ethical, and supernatural questions. Those realms are for philosophy and religion. But if I wish to get closer to a good description of how the world works that it TESTABLE, I prefer science.

You stick with the voodoo. There is "NO ONE IS BETTER THAN THE OTHER" crap. They are used to attempt to answer very different questions meat head! The guy who says its nice to see no insults and then immediately refers to assholes.

Being a hypocrite and stupid is not a good combination.

You think science is going to set up an experiment asking why humans are here, what is our purpose? This is completely beyond the purview of science. Science does not take on these type of untestable judgement questions.

I am not referring to the actual scientists - they already know that science is not superior.

I was referring to the idiotic trolls like yourself and your rump ranger buddies who come in here spewing garbage and acting superior to people that believe in a "god"

Dip - "god" is a word invented by sleeping human beings and has nothing to do with actual "reality"

Although this doesn't stop idiots from arguing about the word and bigger idiots from claiming that there is an actual "superior" side to this idiotic debate.

Leave your out of science. That's what I said. Don't do what the authors given by XMas do that are now on your must read list. Most of those guys do exactly what I stated Chopra has done. Interject mystic spirituality into an endeavor he claims science can't handle. That's what I stated!

Will do - and maybe you can read some of the thread - which was the basis for Xmas to align those things you mentioned.

The topic was brainwashing and spirituality and reality.

Science is sometimes relevant and at other times not.

    What I referred to in my post - are comments like this;

New Age Mystic Medicine man fad.

    and this;

    half-baked leaps in logic

    and;

Just don't be disingenuous and link it with the very restricted method of science.

    To name a few.

These things are no more correct than a spiritual person ridiculing science.

No one has the upper hand in these mysteries that we are talking about. Not science. Not religion. Not scholars. Not idiots.

In the topics I mentioned in the posts, science has a number of approaches to take but the mystics lied and stated science is stuck here. (Read what I said about Deepak Chopra and most of those other authors mentioned by Xmas), they have pulled his same medicine man crap. Read it again and I will explain it again. Keep the out of good science.

All of the quotes you got up are good descriptions on what these charlatans are trying to pull. And people actually buy the tapes and books after reading his excerpts.

"the mystics lied and stated science is stuck here."

true mystics don't care about reason and science. They use direct, intuitive knowledge
, much superior, available when the nervous system is refined. purified, calmed, Self-realized.
