4 seasons of an eFG% of above .500 tbh

4 times in the playoffs too

when you understand that a 3 pointer is worth 1.5X more than a 2, you would understand efficiency better but I dont expect spurfan to get it.

Obviously zero. But over .450 probably more than you'd think. I believe it's 12 of his 17 years. As a guard who shoots a lot of jumpers, Kobe is arguably about where you'd expect him to be. If you look at some of his contemporaries during his career like Ray Allen, Vince Carter, Ginobili, T-Mac, I'm sure you'd find similar FG% production, with perhaps a little more variance, perhaps a better peak. Someone mentioned it earlier, but one thing you can say about Kobe's shooting, it has been pretty consistent over his career, whether you regard it as good or bad.

Another thing about Kobe both fans and critics should be able to agree on is that often times throughout his career he has settled for the jumper as opposed to constantly and relentlessly attacking the rim like a guy like LeBron. But you can look at it as a double edged sword. Kobe's FG% has suffered in part because of that. But also, you can say it helped him have a longer career with fewer injuries for a guard. Look at Wade. He's a couple years younger than Kobe and has played 6 fewer seasons in the NBA, but his body is wrecked. He has the body of a 40 year old, where he can show flashes and glimpses of his former athleticism, but not for 36 minutes, not for 82 games. Wade has a really pretty FG% for a guard, but his knees and his feet and his back and his wheelchair might feel differently about what's more important. You can look at how Vince Carter evolved his game later in his career into more of a jumpshooter. Similar to how Jordan changed his game later in his career. Similar to what LeBron will likely have to do with his game later in his career if he wants to lengthen it. Kobe just started doing it earlier on in his career. Efficiency suffered, but not enough that it prevented a pretty successful career.

It's fair to criticize Kobe's FG%. It isn't amazing for a perimeter player, like LeBron or Michael or Magic. It's fair. It's probably nit-picking. Kobe is one of those few guys whose game will get completely picked apart by his detractors. Even the littlest thing will be bashed on. It's understandable. There's a lot to not like about Kobe, both on and off the court. So like this is a foreseeable product.

Every single point Kobe scored in the 08 WCF

Not a single "MVPau drawing double teams" was seen

Luke Walton drew a double team once

you could stop there. if his FG% sucks because of his ty shot selection, thats his problem not ours

Not a single "MVPau drawing double teams" was seen

Luke Walton drew a double team once

    You're pathetic
1st play, entire defense collapsed in the paint, leaving Bowen to cover Kobe one on one 15 feet away from the basket.
    2: MVPau handoff, nuff said
3: Leaving Kobe wide open when everybody was scrambling to cover MVPau
4: Screen, MVPau hand off, again, and guarded by Udka
5: singled throughout, no double. Duncan wouldn't leave the inside for fear of MVPau
    6: Steal
7: Entire defense collapsed in paint in fear of MVPau, leaving Kobe wide open
    8: Kobe ignoring open MVPau
    9 Fast Break
    10: MVPau moving screen
    11: Illegal push
    12: Good shot
    13: Lucky bank
    14: MVPau pass again
    15: Semi break
16: Wide open worrying about MVPau
17: Good shot after double on LUUUUUUUUke
    18: Good shot
    19: Collapsed defense in paint
20: Collapsed defense in paint, unwarranted foul
    21: Udka
    22: No double
    23: Semi break
24: Entire defense in paint, with MVPau doubled
25: Good cross over, no double
    26: Good layup
    27: Collapsed paint
    28: Caollapsed paint
    29: Bad defense
    30: Bad defense
    31: Bad defense
    32: Lucky shot
    33: Bull foul shot

    etc ....
So the entire Spurs defense never doubled Kobe, and collapsed the paint on every possession. So called for a feared scorer.
