rofl at the copy of SI with Kobe on it on the table![]()
Mitch's smile looks forced.
You know it's sad in Lakerland when Ruva actually stops being a got and starts having good takes for once, tbh....

I can't see how the Lakers don't waive Nash. They basically have to now. He is useless to their winning and a cap drain. Waive him, use the stretch provision and net yourself an additional 6M in cap space next season.
Look at that SI magazine on the table. Kobe brought that to the meeting to remind them.
Mitch looks like a porn star who just realized what they've done tbh.
From my understanding, if LA waives Nash and uses the stretch provision, they can effectively turn their 22-23M in cap space to ~28-29M. Has to be done IMO.
Pau is 19 million coming off the books...Celts are tanking...it's why they won't allow Rondo to return even though he's ready..trading for Pau now accelerates their tanking and gives them more flexibility with a 19 million expiring...that's why they do it...Rondo is the Combo guard we've been craving...won't win it without him in the back court...as for old...he didn't look it last season...this is about a 2 yr window and 1 more championship....you don't get there by sitting on your ass hoping some big name free agent will switch teams at the last minute..there's nothing but out there...when you have Kobe..you roll the dice and squeeze that Lemon one more time...
Tanking is for sissies, but getting ed at the negotiating table is for gots. As a boss, at best you size up all the contenders that could have offered Kobe a contract. Offer him not a penny more than what they would have offered him. Kobe would not have gone to play for a scrub team.
shut the up and stop trying to agree with me without giving me credit....I've already said cutting Nash was key and they're going to do it
Like I said in my first reply to this announcement. There has to be some under the table deal in the works right now. That's the only way you can justify giving Kobe this contract. Counting on Ainge to deliver us from is more than a stretch.
So let's say the Lakers maximize their cap space (waive everyone but Kobe, Sacre & Swaggy P including Nash using the Stretch Provision) - they would have 28M in cap space approximately.
That would be Kobe/Sacre/Swaggy P + 28M in cap space. If Melo signs his max deal that is about 23M gone, so they would have Kobe/Melo/Sacre/Swaggy P plus 5-6M left to fill out 8 spots.

Kobe Melo Gasol are copying Wade James Bosh but our trio is better. Kobe is smarter and more of a killer then James Melo is better then Wade and Gasol is better then Bosh. Expect around 15million per year.
From your understanding? I just posted an entire article on the breakdown, you non-bet collecting got.
melo ain't getting 23 mill..he'll be getting 15 mark my words...
Rondo a combo guard
you ing idiot, Rondo couldn't even hit water if he was in a boat, dude can't shoot for
I don't get it. You want Kobe to be an alpha on the court and the Lakers FO to be a bully at the "table" but Kobe to be lamb at the table?
That makes no sense. if the FO was not supposed to get screwed then why would Kobe? Again kobe had the leverage. We have no star in waiting like the Spurs had developed with parker. Sure, tony is not half the man tony is ... but who is our young stud ready to ball on the court and put butts in the seats?
They gambled on Dwight and lost. PERIOD. It's Kobe's show now for better or worse.
We need a star when Kobe leaves that is why I support tanking ...
I can see both sides of the argument, tbh..
- IMO, securing Kobe is a good move for the Lakers, regardless of the money..realistically, the Lakers weren't and aren't going to win anything in the next 3-5 years..their roster is terrible, they have no prospects or assets, they weren't going to acquire Lebron or Durant, etc..
Also, management is already under scrutiny with fans..they realize they aren't going to win, so the obvious move is to reach a peace treaty with the fans, which is allowing Kobe to stay on the team and chase the scoring record, which is at least something Laker fan can cheer for, knowing they aren't going to win anything substantial as a team any time in the near future..
Kobe has the biggest cult following in sports, tbh..most of his fans would literally eat his ass if he asked them to do it..Laker fan would never forgive Lakers' management if they let Kobe go, tbh..this move keeps them happy, allows Kobe to potentially retire as a Laker, and allows him to chase records with no team expectations..
- Lakers can still try to make a splash by signing somebody like Kevin Love or Westbrook and have them play with Kobe for 1 year until he retires, and then build around that player, tbh..
- The problem arises if the Lakers' blow their cap space on Carmelo, he's fat and on the decline..it will make them the Knicks of the West for the next 7-8 years..another problem would be if they use their cap space with the intention of building a contender around Kobe, which just isn't possible at this point of his career, tbh..
- As for Kobe, it is strange that he still needs to make 25 million a year when he's already rich as and only has a few more years remaining in the NBA, tbh..I don't blame him, at all, though..everybody should realize that his wife calls the shots, this has been evident for a minute, this power move was probably entirely orchestrated by Vanessa Bryant..
- This is the best scenario for Kobe, tbh..chase the scoring records with no pressure to win, he will have the poor supporting cast card, media will blame D'Antoni and Lakers management, and he'll enjoy his bank account and neglect his FG%..
No. I can maybe see the Celts trading Rondo for an expiring contract, but it would take picks to get that deal done which LA doesn't have. But maybe if a third team gets involved, they could send BOS a young player/pick and LA could effectively end up with Rondo.
Let's say best case scenario that happens. Then you now go from 28M in cap space to 16M and that's not even enough to grab Melo unless he takes a massive pay cut. Even if he does that, you have Kobe/Melo/Rondo/Swaggy P/Sacre and the rest of your roster is essentially league minimum players outside of the BAE I believe (which is like 2M).
Luva actually having a legit unbiased take![]()
Knicks are stupid enough to give 20 mil annually if he resigns with them. He wont go to LA to play for less in team that wouldnt win either.
If by some miracle it ever happened, Rondo/Kirby/Melo would be the funniest thing to ever happen to the Lakers since Nash/Kobe/Pau/Dwight tbh
