Great coaches coach great players to championships your point is laughable.
He sucks and I mean HE SUCKS. My new Fave Spurs player to hate on! Atleast Bonner did something well at times for most of the year. He is a 12th man on a roster. I hope Pop does not play this guy into the ground like he did some other bums.

you lost at kobe
Game 6 was poorly coached. Not sure how Game 7 is his fault. Coaches take most of the blame in losses and get little credit in victory. Its a job, but Pop has done it well. Boylen?yeah any assistant coach can just step in an lead a team to the le. I stand by calling you a moron.
I meant after Shaq left and he lead them to back to back (albeit with a great supporting cast of Gasol, Odom, and Bynum)
I'm officially sick of watching him play basketball. Poor hands. Useless on offense. Defensively he has the length and mobility to be a decent defender but its just not there. He is a fringe NBA player.
Going 6-24 in a game 7 and having Gasol/Artest carry your ass to the finish line. Definitely led them to a le that year.
You're overrating him by quite a bit. He's a D-League player getting MLE money thanks to his former Indiana coach that now works for SA.
Don't worry, Ayres will be on the bench and Bonner will be playing 25 MPG in the playoffs, tbh.

What is Ayers good at?
tiago is back
and it's not fair to the team tbh
Pop's fault for giving that bald any semblance of power after a month of employment. If I walked into a new job and said "we should hire this guy that I kind of like!", and my boss agrees with me, I'd think my boss is a ing dumbass. Not that I think that's how it went down, but Boylen who has no "corporate knowledge" should not have had that kind of decision making power to bring in someone right away. PATFO are idiots for letting it happen.
TROOF BOMBS! !!!
I stopped defending him. He's a grade A number one bust... probably one of the worst signings the Spurs have had in the last 10+ years. smfh tbh
This scrub had the nerve to fight Heat players last yearHe isn't even worthy of being on the same floor as Ryan Hollins, much less LeBron.
by that reasoning, why doesn't he experiment with baynes more![]()
He's a washed-up, 26 year-old monkey baller. Jeff is the type of player that got by on his athleticism for most of his basketball career, blew out his knee early in the NBA and never recovered since he never had any skills or fundamentals to fall back on. He has no feel for the game whatsoever.
Overpaid, but $1.8 million next year is chump change to move as an expiring deal in another trade. But in a sense, you're right given the context. It's more about what he potentially cost us this year in terms of what that money could have otherwise been spent on, as anything more than two years out is meaningless to this current team.
What I would give to unload a bunch of these useless pieces (Ayres, De Colo) and any salary we need to (Bonner, CoJo) for a capable backup point. Mills simply has some awful matchups. There's just nothing out there to be had.
IMO, we had Baynes last year and I think Pop knows what he can get from him... he even did a decent job against DHo in the Lakers series.
Baynes is a guy that went through the Toros program, which makes him more familiar with the system.
That said, only Pop knows. I actually think (and hope) that if Ayers doesn't turn things around soon, Baynes will probably take his minutes.
fair enough. i just don't see why Baynes' only route to getting minutes is if Ayers s up. Ayers didn't have to earn his minutes
Someone else explained it in another thread as, they invested money in him, so they want to put him to use. Kind of like a ty product you bought, couldn't return it, and decided to use it until it breaks. We might want to stop using it before it breaks the whole team, though.
I don't have all the answers. For all we know, he might've earned them in training camp.
Spursfan is anxious, but I can't think Pop is too happy with what he's seen from Ayres so far.
I guarantee that when Pop retires, TheGreatYacht will not be seen on this site anymore.
or if manu gets finals mvp![]()
Zero reason to think that this is just Pop messing around with Ayres.
This is legit, Pop is in on Ayres-sanity.
Baynes banging well against Howard in the playoffs doesn't equate to Pop resting him because he knows what he has. It points out that coming in mid-season with zero NBA experience, Baynes showed a lot of promise. So much promise that he should have been given a lot of rope to show what he could do given a full camp and a lot of minutes this season to figure out what the Spurs had and what to do with him in the summer.
Ayres is on pace to play more than 250 extra minutes than Tiago Splitter played his rookie season. Splitter was put under for no good reason, but Pop gonna Pop. It took two damn seasons to experiment with Splitter next to Duncan, but now supposedly Pop is just messing around with his bigs?
Then Baynes has two solid games after finally getting a chance, looking much better than Ayres. And against the Clippers, a good match-up for Baynes against a big center in Jordan. And still, it didn't matter. He got Splittered.
Ayres is bulletproof.
