Yates has a lot to do with that, he put Boise on the map as DBU during his first stint with the program as defensive backs coach....
You're going to bring up Fran? Uh...

the aggie secondary has been awful for years. it is certainly not a good thing when we lose recruits for these positions but we still have some time to try to get a safety. the plus side is we have some pass rushers that should help. one of the reasons the aggie secondary was torn up this year was our inability to get to the QB. when we had von miller and moore the last 2 seasons our stats against the pass were much better.
Sounds like Zaycovan Henderson to Texas Tech.
nice get for tech. their defense should continue to improve
Strong better get some juco DTs or we are going to be in deep water.
With Petersen gone, Boise will be irrelevant. You're crazy if you think they will have the same success without him.
Aggy
Irrelevant now that Johnny Inbred's gone
Mountain West.
Okay, I'm really bothered by losing Henderson, but one recruiting class isn't going to make or break The University. But Strong better get on the recruiting trail or he will be playing from behind the 8 ball.
None of this is surprising. Some recruits from this class are going to be lost, obviously. If it's defensive players that are bailing, then that tells me they were more interested in coming to UT to be coddled by Mack instead of playing for a coach who fielded a top defense in the nation last season.
Texas fans need to be realistic going into this. Strong is not going to walk in the door, sit on the nest and start ting out golden eggs. The Longhorns should still win 9-10 games but with a whole new coach, assistants and system on both sides of the ball this next season will be a transition year. We should really start seeing the benefits the second season of Strong's tenure...after a year of his recruiting and leadership are in the books and his culture begins to really establish itself.

One thing stood out to me. James Proche II from the Prime Prep played extremely well against the LSU commit Kevin Tolliver II.
Same here. Trey decommitting doesn't bother me as much as Zaycovan Henderson does. I like Henderson better. Coach Strong desperately needs to get his staff in place in order to gain ground in recruiting. He talked about getting coaches on the staff with Texas ties but that hasn't come into existence yet. The only coach with Texas ties would be Vance Bedford but that's only because he is a Texas Alumni. Despite that, I'm not sure that he even has many ties through recruiting in the state. I understand Coach Strong wanting to bring the guys that he has familiarity with from Louisville and I know that's important, I just wish we could get a bigger attractive name as the offensive coordinator. Especially since the recruits are watching for someone that they have heard of and can get excited about. Also the coordinator is important since he will have free range to run the offense, according to Strong, as he is so defense oriented.
From Vance bedford twitter acct:
56m Tom Jurich has not picked a head coach yet. Until then I am still in the hunt. Go Cards
Hope Strong has some ideas.
Currently sitting at ZERO DT commits for 2013 and 2014.
24/7 reporting Louisville's RB coach, Kenny Carter, will take the same position at Texas.
JUCO TE Blake Whiteley of Arizona Western has committed to Texas, per 24/7.
So, Porter is out? We need some Texas connections
Yes, but you are on a ST forum. So the expectation is an unbeaten season with a national championship. If we even beat anyone by less than 6 TDs, they will calling for his head. The calls for a change after even the first loss will be unbearable. Expect a long season given the expectations of a spoiled fan base.
what doesn't help is that he obviously lacks the backing of some powerful alumni. the worst thing about what mccombs said was that it put pressure on strong before he's even had his first practice. i would imagine he has a very short leash to work with and that's a lot of pressure to be hit with right off the bat. but strong probably knew what he was getting into.
I think this mentality only applies to idiots like michael jordan
This is is for the fan who has not been a fan very long and does not know what UT has been through.
UH put up 77 points on us. We lost a national championship against Georgia on a fumbled punt that should have never been fielded. The list of failure is there. That's why 2005 was so sweet and not an Alabama ho hum here we are again.
was that Ware or Klingler? I can't remember but I listened to it on the radio at a family deer lease![]()
Pretty sure it was Ware.
I listened to it on the radio as well. I think it was cold and raining in San Antonio. Altogether miserable.
