So you ask, who would have guarded Durant and Lebron? Well if we didn't deal for a SF (in Kawhi) we would have kept Keith Bogans, who went on to anchor one of the best defensive teams in the Bulls (finished 62-20 and ranked #1 defensively) while starting all 82 games, and we would have kept Alonzo Gee (who's now blossoming with the Cavs).
    You're arguing that Bogans/Gee can check Durant/Lebron?

Not as well as Kawhi for sure, but having Hill would be an upgrade on a defensive scheme on a smaller guard and remember that we'd still have stephen jackson because he ultimately left because he didnt get any minutes and was frustrated

    so its more of bogans/gee/hill + stak5

Nah. I like mute. One of the laziest trolls ever, but people keep falling for it. I'd only pink him if he makes threads too frequently. And I sure wouldn't ban him.

YEAH because the Spurs have a track record of being cheap going for the aron baynes and trying to sign d-leaguers like malchom thomas and desean butler.

if the spurs were actual spenders, id make threads for josh smith, kevin love, roy hibbert, and andre drummond
Threads aren't necessary. Sure, we sign cheap plays on flyers to potentially fill roles and it has worked out. Threads about signing players who haven't played in years because they were good in 2005 doesn't make any sense.

We are a small market squad. Draft picks and cheap signing of players who fill specific roles keep us from over paying to compete for a le. Leonard, Green, Neal, Mills, Baynes, Bonner, De Colo, Joseph were all making below $4 million dollars last season. This season Parker Duncan and Manu are making a $29 million, Kobe is make $30 million. S.T.A.T and Melo are both making more than $21 million dollars this season. There is a good reason while we aren't big spenders.

This season we have the best record in the west, on pace for a franchise record, and are 1 game back from the best record in the NBA. The Knicks, Bulls and Nets are all (or were, in the Bulls case) paying the luxury tax just to compete against Miami and Indiana.

    1. Jackson was acquired in a trade for Richard Jefferson--who became truly expendable because the Spurs drafted Kawhi; so you can't assume that the Spurs would still have Stephen Jackson.
    2. Even if you could assume that the Spurs would still have Jackson, he didn't leave of his own free will...he was waived; Jackson complained about wanting an extension, and it sounded like he was bitter that Manu and Green were ahead of him in the depth chart.
    3. Alonzo Gee was waived in Nov of 2010 and Keith Bogans signed with the Bulls in the summer of 2010...so their departure didn't have anything to do with drafting Kawhi...

One of the things i really enjoy about these boards is the give and take between posters that leads to better understanding of the game/team/league...I've certainly had my share of misinformed posts and learned a lot from the corrections offered by the board members...having said that, i really don't understand this whole "trolling" bit...i don't understand why people would do that...how is it entertaining to bait people and waste goodwill? But then that leads to my problem of assuming most of these posts are sincere and thus falling for "trolls"...sorry, that became way off-topic...it's just that it's hard to tell what the right response should be to these kind of posts/takes...

This sounds like a walk off shot. Right on all points. Watching Hill play point guard against the Heat was downright painful at times. He basically held the ball until someone magically became wide open.

The good thing about mute and such is they're easy to tune out because it's so stupid. The bad thing is that you end up tuning out 90% of this forum, because the crap posters have ing proliferated and a decent post has become a rare bird here. Meh, ST is like SAS, it's the regular season so who cares.

He was on another level. Tbh it must have killed him to hear Parker call Tiago the euroleague MVP.

They moved him because Tony Parker resigned at a good price. He was bound to get a bigger payday when his free agency was up the following year. I agreed with moving him and time has shown it was the right deal. Leonard has been much more effective for us (minus a FT in game 6) in the playoffs then Hill ever was.
