BTW, I wouldn't trade Green for JR Smith. No way, no how. That was a bit of me being a smart ass since he Knicks had "scouts" at the T Wolves Spurs game and Pop wanted him on our team years ago. I think I would much rather have Green's Defense and cheap contract. If we could have Smith for Bonner, sure. Why not? I still think Green is more valuable to this team than we realize on some nights.
Trading Smith doesn't mean we have to part with Green...

18 pages now of speculation after this bs rumor and some mentioning names they want now. This will continue tomorrow and so on
Well not all players are even eligible for trades right now, Splitter and JR Smith become eligible tomorrow for instance...

Jeff Green would be a decent upgrade. He doesn't really do anything for the Celtics and will probably never live up to his original hype. He's just an above average player. But for the Spurs, they get someone athletic who is desperately needed against the younger and more athletic teams like the Thunder and Warriors.
Kevin Garnett last season said that Jeff Green is going to be one of the greatest players in the game/ever. I'm not sure of the quote word for word, but I thought it's one of the dumbest things I've heard. Green is good, but he ain't that good. I still think that he's an above average starter and nothing more. I have no freaking idea what KG was on about, or what he was basing his opinion on.

Green's PER is 13.7. That's below the NBA average of 15.0, and he makes $10M per year.

    No. Just no.

Why would Garnett even say that??? Green isn't even young anymore, I thought he was like 28. Maybe I'm wrong. But it's not like all this upside is about to kick in....

Jeff Green has no place in a healthy Spurs rotation. He's not starting at the three unless Leonard moves to the two. And he hates playing the four full-time, since that's what he did in OKC. So he'd be a bench combo-forward, and not even in the sixth-man role. That's too small of a role for him to make that kind of money in.

The team may as well try to get a pick for taking on Gerald Wallace's albatross.

Boston with their 9th loss in a row, working their way further down the EC standing; could look for expiring contracts to restructure roster next season.

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=koq4zk4

Again tough to judge what EC teams will do since difference between 8th and 9-15 isn't that big.
The difference between 3 and 13 in the East isn't that big. Philadelphia is 13th this morning and they're only 7 games back of the 3 seed. New York (having won 6 of its last 7) and Brooklyn (having won 5 of its last 6) are tied for 8th and are each only 4.5 games out of the 3 seed (and the Atlantic Division lead) after their horrendous starts.

He doesn't have a no-trade clause and he's under contract. If the Celtics trade him he has to leave.

They're probably willing to get rid of Bass as we'll wish we could land Avery Bradley too but they're probably planning to resign him.

I was under the impression that Hollins was not rehired because of money. The Grizzlies wanted to give him a moderate raise and Hollins wanted a substantial raise. Hollins was given permission to shop himself elsewhere and the Grizzlies took the in-house inexpensive replacement.

Parker was asked about these rumors on his radio show and he said that he heard nothing about it, that Spurs like stability and don't do trades unless it makes them better. He said at the same time that he wouldn't be surprised if Spurs do a trade since they are trying to win it all and that the window is closing. Parker also said that there is a meeting every season before the trade deadline between Pop, Timmy, Manu and him to talk about it but that it hasn't happened for the moment this year.

Bass and Bradley??? LMFAO. I thought the Spurs were trying to improve. What a joke.
If you don't see Bradley as an upgrade over Green, you're stuck in parallel universe. Green has been mostly dysfunctional this year. Teams are playing him tight, not allowing him to get clean looks at the basket. His handles are terrible and when he tries to create, he looks like Splitter 2.0. His defense is so grossly overrated that most of the time, posters have to revert back to last year's postseason to remember Green's lockdown moments. he's had a couple of decent games defensively this year but then again, it could have been an off shooting night by the opposing player. Last year,s Green was more of an aberration and not the norm. It's probably already too late to sell high on Green.

As it is, the Spurs have no assets other than a bunch of useless expirings that won't net much in returns. If you think other teams are lining up to take the Spurs junk in return for quality players, then, the joke is on you. if you want something of value, you'd better be willing to part with someone that has value.

There's as much proof that the Spurs won't make a trade as much as there is that the Spurs will. Aren't posts calling out wistful Spurs fans also adding to the amount of posts here? So what if this thread takes 18, 19, or a hundred pages jeez

I'm not really for Spurs doing a big trade for a player like Jeff Green or Thadeus Young where they would have to give up first round pick and/or 2015 cap space.

I think Spurs should target a smaller trade for a SF or mobile PF where they won't have to give up too much. Players like Mike Dunleavy, Brandon Bass, Marvin Williams or Tayshaun Prince are all good targets for me. It will allow Spurs to improve the end of their rotation without giving up too much to do so.

The only way Spurs should consider JR Smith is if agree to decline his 2015-2016 player option before being traded. It would first be a sign he is willing to salvage his career and, for Spurs, JR Smith without his 15-16 salary is a considerable lower risk than with his current contract.
