Yeah, because they couldn't get Turner. But apparently they didn't even offer a pick for him. What did they expect Philly to take?
    It's not surprising, tbh.

Philly doesn't have the leverage, nor does L.A (Gasol) or Houston (Asik). When it's known that a team has no plans in keeping a player, usually the opposing teams carry all the leverage in potential trades. Teams usually offer the bare minimum, knowing their adversaries' desperation to get rid of the player.

Why is this? Teams are finally getting smarter-- teams are aware that it's better getting anything opposed to nothing if the player is in his last year of his contract, so they tend to try to offer the least valuable and relevant offer possible.

Teams trying to get rid of expendable bad contracts (good, overpaid players), or unwanted players in the last year of their contracts never have leverage in trades anymore.

Only reason why I would except Turner on this team is because the guy can get his own shot. That's something we are going to need in the playoffs when the offense becomes stagnant. A 2nd line-up of Diaw + Turner + Manu + Marco +Patty is very interesting.
The second unit is already getting murdered by OKC's bench and you want to play Turner (who gets owned defensively by the like of Nash) at PF...

From the guy who insists on trading our second best defender.....

And yeah why not? As long as it works to get us to the WCF. We'll worry about match-ups when we get to OKC.

Woj saying Fredette can be had for a 2nd rounder. I'd do Nando + 2014 2nd for Jimmer. We aren't losing anything of real value and at least Jimmer is a lights out shooter.

Not saying Fredette will actually be useful, but I'd be wary of writing off anyone who has been stuck on that horrible Kings team

Wow - pretty cheap. Hopefully this opens the flood gates in Philly and Spurs can somehow swoop Young.

Good trade for Cleveland. Still need to get a legitimate wing like Afflalo, though.

Thats a bargain for Cleveland. I wish the Spurs had explored that trade as a Bonner replacement

2 early second rounders from Cleveland may be better than our late first tho... I would have liked him but wouldn't have traded much for him.

There has to be more too it - Cavs payroll is at 63M. They can't just absorb Hawes and his 6.6M.

Also, as many stated, PHI is way under the payroll minimum. They need to take on salary.

This CLE/PHI trade still doesn't work in the books. Cavs have to be sending a player (Clark or Gee likely) or must involve a third team.

Probably for Clark. He's basically an expiring.

EDIT: mini-confirmation from the above post.

Getting Clark would make sense positionally if they are also moving Young.

Interesting considering they have so many well performing Wings. Maybe that opens up a chance for SA to step in too..
