being faster longer doesn't matter. it is very rare that an NFL sprint goes longer than 30-40 yards. what matters is breaking it loose within that first 20-40 yards
You never ever ever ever ever get it right, wow~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is my thread asshole, what is Blake doing here? Yep, humping my leg just like you do.
So when you going to actually do something all on your own?
being faster longer doesn't matter. it is very rare that an NFL sprint goes longer than 30-40 yards. what matters is breaking it loose within that first 20-40 yards
You missed the point.
Guys with a legit sprint background will stay faster longer (talking seasons) than just some guy with a quick burst like a 40. Track guys started off as little kids running track, getting in that sort of condition. So because of that conditioning they will maintain/sustain the jets longer than a guy who didn't train for sprinting.
Guys used to running 100-400 are on a whole other level than just some cat with a good first 40. Talking longevity here.
you referenced a play where bo jackson got run down, while ignoring the fact that he started left, reversed fields, hurdled a guy, then took off and raced down 90 yards...
at the 1:42 mark
That's the play, that's Rod Jones. You need to take into consideration Jones had been covering wide receivers all game long and Bo was a decathlete, trust me that little jaunt had no effect on him at all. He like Jones also ran the 400m.
reversing fields, the stop-start obviously wears you down, as does a hurdle like that, which is very different than hurdling in a race. then goes through an arm tackle/stumbles. please.
So how many times in his Auburn/NFL career did we see anyone run him down regardless of the situation?
i don't know.
brb, about to dig through 600 hours of auburn film
seeing as how he had plenty of runs that didn't go for touchdowns, its conceivable he was run down on a few occasions
I saw him play many times at Auburn/Raiders, I never saw anyone catch him from behind, when he was in full gallop.
The point was this...
Rod Jones was a 400m sprinter at SMU, not a 100 guy. So he had that long range...speed endurance...ok?
that's pretty moot considering he covered significantly less distance on the play in question.
Where do we see what he was doing prior to the chase? He could have been down field covering a receiver and came back.
What is your point?
The point is you're an old got pedo
translation
Avante, other than Green and RGIII what other track guys did we have?
No problem small fry.
Larry Jones is still the fastest college 400m sprinter to ever play in the NFL, he was the real deal, a 44.8 guy. You also had Baylors Jerry Thomas a 46ish type. Art Monk was a hurdler while at Syracuse.

What about Ernest Givins or Haywood Jeffires?
Lol tecmo bowl. I remember Jefferies being a big target, not really fast.
But Avante sucks again by leaving off Billy white shoes Johnson.
Neither of them were known for collegiate track success.
He was no track athlete of any renown.
There are a lot of fast footballers who did nothing on the(HS?) track or very little. A few examples...
Tony Dorsett
Randy Moss....one indoor season
John Taylor
Eric erson
Gale Sayers....he was a stud HS long jumper
Calvin Johnson
Lance Alworth
Devin Hester
Mike Wallace
Greasy fat pedo with the almanac bads
Billy made the MAC Conference All-Century team in track.
He's currently a track coach.Johnson was an All-American in 1974, graduating with school records in the 100 and 200-yard dashes.........winning the conference that year.....

But hey look, you learned something today, track expert!
Lol fat ol pedo
Try it again...
When I talk sprint speed it's 9.5/10.4 or faster, Now go find Johnson's PR and you'll see why he wasn't mentioned. He ran in a conference that good female sprinters could win, dead serious.
Now think shorty, kid wins the Montana state le in 10.75. How would he do in Cali, Tex or Florida? He wouldn't even make the final. That's what we have here with Johnson.
Trust me slick you will never teach me anything about track, and only a track idiot would think winning a Dvision III league meant something, it doesn't!!!!!!!!! That's where those that nobody wants end up.
In terms you can understand........it's like winning the AFC South....wow what an accomplishment.
Johnson was a 9.7 guy, that doesn't make the grade. big burly John Riggins ran that in high school. Those Oilers I did mention were all sub 9.5/10.4 guys.
Dude, don't try to talk about things you know...0....about, ok?
you..but he won the MAC in Division III
me...it's about PR;s son.

We can't watch a Clemson game and not hear about the amazing speed of Sammy Watkins. Ok so just how fast is he? He's a 10.4 guy, a time Reggie Bush, Percy Harvin ran in high school. Which is where his PR comes from, he wasn't a track guy at Clemson. So he does have some speed, just not....WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...stuff like they try to make us believe. I'll back off the.....didn't run at Clemson, if he did he did...0.
Keep in mind Trindon Holliday...10.00..!
So what's Sammy going run the 40 in?
Oh, so if you're not into it, then it must not matter.
The 1973 NCAA football guide had this to say before the season: "With 9.5 speed, white football shoes, and an end zone touchdown dance, he's earned the nicknames, Blazin' Billy White Shoes and Lovable Hot Dog"
http://www.footballfoundation.org/Pr....aspx?id=70027
But this is what happens when people try to have conversations with you. You don't back your facts up, you move the goalposts of the discussion and you get severely butthurt when someone shows you up like I have now for the second day in a row.
So I'm just going to go back to calling you a re ed, talking, fat ol pedo.![]()
I moved nothing, you simply don't understand track, so why play pretend...????
Billy Johnson is not one of the fastest Oilers ever, a 9.7 pales in comparision to what fast guys run.
it goes like this small fry.
yards/meters
9.0-10.00 Bob Hayes ran 9.1/10.06
9.1-10.10 James Jett 10.16
9.2-10.20 Hercshel Walker 10.23
9.3-10.30 Chris Johnson 10.33
9.4=10.40 Percy Harvin 10.43PR
need I go on?
Billy Johnson ran in a conference where nobody ran quality track. Any "decent" sprinter could win it.
The fastest Oilers are
Bill Groman 9.5
Charlie Frazier 9.4 ran on USA teams
Tony Jones a 10.2ish
Herkie Walls 10.3ish
Ken Burrough 9.4
A 9.7 -10.70 ain't .
