I don't think Granger makes much of a difference whether it is/was here or in LA. His best days are behind him.

Agreed, he wasn't even that good even at his peak. However something would be better than nothing.

We haven't won a le in 7 years. Hard to tell any of these guys that if you join us you win a championship. And San Antonio isn't the most desirable city to live in. No surprise Granger takes his chances with the Clippers, and probably not a bad choice for him. He'll be on national tv more and has a better shot at sticking with them for a couple years. Spurs don't want him beyond this year.

I wonder often if pop' s reluctance to deal with head cases and persons of questionable moral character has capped the team's potential. I like that about the spurs in that off the court issues matter but at the same time i want this tteam to win at all costs. Its a catch 22 and interesting debate imo.
exactly! Pop's culture is detrimental to acquiring certain kinds of players that are essential on championship teams. Sometimes you need a Kobe or another ahole to get you far
I'd be a hypocrite if i didn't admit to having similar thoughts about the Spurs' front office moves in prior years.

But the last time this roster of good old boys played in a pay season they were seconds from the le.

They reserve the opportunity to wait until this upcoming playoffs ends before Pop and co are rightfully lambasted .

Outside of acquiring Kawhi, we've had some tough luck with anything related to the Pacers. First, we trade away Paul George, for nothing. Now, we can't even sign Danny Granger!

La granger wont make any difference right now he is the type of player that slows down your team maybe next season he will be more useful, signing big names sounds great on paper but then you have last season Lakers or the Nets so even having fancy people doesnt mean nothing.

Doc Rivers is a recruiter. He meets and greets. Pop and RC are about as personable as a couch cushion.

doc- yeah, you're a big part of our plan here. you're going to have a huge role!!!

pop-maybe you play. maybe you just sit on the bench.

    r.c.- (dead silence)

(actually, i can picture pop like wahlberg's character in the departed when he says: 'maybe. maybe not. maybe go yourself'.)

I thought the general consensus around here for the past 3 days was that he was LA bound. Anybody who has followed the Spurs for at least the past decade knew how it would pan out..

I don't understand how you guys are calling out Granger, this was literally the most obvious move ever. Sure, Granger would love to win a championship, but as a role player barely getting time and barely getting crunch time? I'm guessing not.

The clippers aren't favorites by any means but they definitely have a shot at getting to the finals if things fall their way, granger has a clear path to a starting gig and possibly even a permanent one should he perform well, and the best passing point guard in the game happens to be on the team. It would have been stupid to pick the spurs ahead of the clippers just cuz Pop is a good coach and we have a little better chance for a championship.

Gonna be satisfying when the Spurs boot his ass out of the playoffs, at least.

Watch Doc send him to the bench when he struggles. Adding two people (Granger/Davis) who were promised playing time and shots can ruin team chemistry. Not like they are a .500 team now. I honestly would rather have Jared Dudley over a questionable Granger.

I still think Granger is a possibility next season if Duncan retires.

I seriously doubt TD retires. Why should he? He is still very very productive.
Granger is old news now, ancient history.

He is 38 and has nothing else to prove. I would much rather him walk off the court than be carried. He stuck around for one last shot and he got it. I always thought this would be his last year. Spurs didn't turn their back to Juwan Howard after he signed with the Jazz. I doubt they forget about Granger.

That's what I was thinking. The clippers will welcome him with open arms....except two guys who will be PISSED.

Doubtful. Some guys just don't want to be accountable, and that's the Spurs way. That won't change in a few months.
