Got Saffold and Jason Smith confused.
6 mil per year
Got Saffold and Jason Smith confused.
Dennis Allen envisions schaub starting for a few years
says they don't need to draft a qb
stopgap theory gone wrong
Or smokescreen theory gone right...
paying him 15-20 mil over 2 years > paying him 24.5 over those 2 years. not sure why lol-worthy. i doubt they were gna cut him after 1 season anyway
Paying any money at all for that pick-six machine and trading a draft pick for him is very LOL-worthy
Raiders
i took part in the "lol" for the trade. i was for his acquisition, but not in a trade. the restructure itself isn't lol-worthy imo
Get ready for three years of this:
It's like having Playoff Fivehead all year long....
Raiders
2 of those 4 either went through a receiver's hands or bounced off of them
he's probably gna be with the club for 2 years. the restructure basically guaranteed his 2nd year salary (while reducing it along with his 2014 cap hit). i doubt the plan all along was to second a pick for him, then cut him after 1 season... although matt flynn didn't even last that long![]()
Restructuring will come back to bite you in the ass in general.
restructuring guarantees money down the line. as his contract previously stood, he was gna get paid in the upcoming 2014 season, and would have virtually nothing guaranteed beyond that point, making him an easy cut candidate based on his ridiculous salary...
with the restructure they lower the number for the 2014 season and the 2015 season while basically guaranteeing the 2015 salary as well. its a win win... the raiders pay less than they would have, and schaub isn't going to be vets minimum fodder in 2015.
a lot of the "bad" restructures come in the form of extensions, when you reduce the guys upcoming salary to the minimum and covert the rest into a signing bonus over the course of an extension. from what the schaub deal sounds like, its not the case of that
don't forget the pick he threw to michael huff when we had 10 guys on the field the day after Al Davis died
I broke my remote on that play.
That's your quarterback, man![]()
10 men on the field
11th man was spirit of Al Davis
^that doesn't beat when we had the REAL 12th man... the seahawks. we had the pigeon
keenum being there tells me it wasn't just schaub thing. that whole team collapsed. although having mcgloin and pryor on that list isn't reassuring either![]()
Keenum couldn't read blitzes and sucked at short yardage passes. Plus he was basically a rookie. The defense quit when Schaub's first pass in the SF game was a pick 6. They played much harder for Keenum.
