I never get any invites from you. I look every ing day, and I see your light on, but, no invites. I thought since your average is so low you wouldn't want to stoop with a duffer like myself, but, daddy-O I've been in the pro shop, big time. I got me 4 Cleveland wedges that I just raise with.

I'll send you an invite momentarily.

Neither does Kobe. Even Dirk is a better playoff scorer than him. And Kobe's rebounding and assist averages are fairly unremarkable, par for his position.

Get rid of rings/Finals appearances. Cousy should not be that high.

And for someone who values playoff stats above all, why are you weighting regular season averages/playoff averages and totals the same?

For per game stats, do this:

    30+ ppg - 5 points
    25-29.9ppg - 4 points
    20-24.9ppg - 3 points
    18 -19.9 - 2 points
    15 - 17.9 - 1

RPG (we'll rate rebounding a point lower, since it's a less important stat than PPG)

    15+ - 4 points
    12-14.9 - 3 points
    10-11.9 - 2 points
    7-9.9 - 1 point

    APG

    10+ - 4 points
    7-9.9 - 3 points
    4-6.9 - 2 points
    3-3.9 - 1 point

    BLK/STL per game

    2.5+ - 3 points
    2.0-2.4 - 2 points
    1.0-1.9 - 1 point

    TS%

    .600+ - 4 points
    .570-.599 - 3 points
    .520-.549 - 2 points
    .500-.519 - 1 point
    TS% I'm assuming you mean .520-.569 = 2 points

But why does apg go as low as 3.0, but rpg lowest is at 7.0? Doesn't make sense. And why no points for 35.0-39.9 ppg?

Anyways, I did it for Kobe.

147 points in the regular season
    122 points in the playoffs
269 points regular season and playoffs combined

    bag Duncan: 5

That's the boiler plate should the sexual ring this June. I don't want any confusion in the melee should that happen. So I'll repeat for the peanut gallery:::

    Kobe: 5

the tired old bag Duncan: 5

P.S., I'll prompt this Thread from time-to-time as I see fit.

    Sincerely,

I just did Duncan's playoff averages and got a score of 11.

Anyhow, I'm thinking a 1 to 1 ratio might be better.

    30 ppg = 30 points
    29 ppg = 29 points

    15 rpg = 15 points

    etc

Subtract turnovers per game from the overall total (since TOs do indeed lose games, as we saw with Manu) and add in TS% accordingly.
I did ppg+rpg+apg+spg+bpg-tpg+(ts%*100) for their prime averages

    Regular season
    Kobe 2001-2013 (13 seasons, 973 games) = 93.6
    Tim 1998-2010 (13 seasons, 977 games) = 92.2

    Playoffs
    Kobe 2001-2010 (9 playoffs, 148 games) = 93.6
    Tim 1999-2008 (9 playoffs, 146 games) = 95.7

    Rofl. Nice find.

I love the Kobe fan's (HoopCityJones) response of "stats paint a pretty picture but who was winning those matchups" when presented with these stats:

Nash was winning those matchups against Kobe when they played too.

    Head-to-head matchups.

    Basically a wash.

Again, the main problem with my system here is again it relies on per game stats and will overrate players from the 60's, like Wilt, Oscar, etc, since every per game stat from that era was inflated.

It gives the big man the advantage imo since the difference in RPG between them and guards is huge.

As it should be. Rebounds are more important than assists. And bigs can affect the game in more ways than guards. Big man stats should be valued more.

My preference for Duncan over Kobe (whose stats are basically a wash when you consider everything) is that he's a big, and when the argument is this close, I'll always choose a big. The only perimeter wing players that I've seen affect the game like a great big on both ends are Jordan and Lebron, both of whom I'd take over Duncan.

Not really, but I get your premise. For the record, I'd take a big over a guard as well. That means I'd take Duncan over LeBron if I were building a team. If you recall, I said I would have traded prime Shaq for Duncan in 1999 - so that I could pair him with a then 21 year old Kobe. Kobe would be sitting on 7 rangs, to Duncan's 8*.

Or if Byner just hung onto that football.

The Cleveland Browns going to the Super Bowl.

    Imagine that.

Or imagine if they coulda stunted Elway's march a year earlier.

Your Cleveland Browns coulda possibly been back-to-back World Champions.

    The Drive must've hurt.

You punched your ticket to the Superbowl. You were sitting in the plane, 1st class digs with a comfy window seat. The engines were revving up ready to fly you down here to sunny LA.

And then Elway and Company stormed the plane and kicked you right out onto the tarmac.

And it happened the next year too!

You had 3 in the trophy case. Then Mesa.

But you were too pussy to deal with it and conveniently "don't do Indians."

It's chicken to forsake a team just for changing stadiums.

But I understand. You knew future pain was coming and looked for an out.
